Is the 2025 MINI Cooper S fun to drive?
There is good evidence for the Cooper S’s entertaining side, but “fun” is not the same as universally comfortable or smooth. Consumer Reports’ road test described quick steering, low body roll, cornering grip and agile handling. Its testers also reported a stiff ride and hesitation or lurching at low speeds, and their overall reactions differed.
That makes the 2025 Cooper S 2 Door most appealing to drivers who enjoy a responsive, lively small car and are willing to accept a firmer ride. On broken pavement or in stop-and-go traffic, the same car may be less charming.

The transmission is automatic; the quoted specifications do not establish that every driver will experience equally smooth response. Consumer Reports specifically noted low-speed hesitation and lurching in its test, a practical counterpoint to the brisk acceleration figure.
What is Go Kart Mode?
Go Kart Mode is one of MINI’s selectable driving modes. MINI USA says it provides “increased vehicle agility”; that is the manufacturer’s description of the setting, not independent proof of a measured performance gain. MINI says modes can adjust handling and personalize the overall interior experience, with individual dynamics, chassis and drive-system settings configurable where the car’s equipment allows. MINI also describes Green Mode as providing consumption-optimized tuning and an anticipatory display. That description does not guarantee a particular fuel-economy result. Equipment and available settings can vary, so check the controls and specifications on the individual car rather than assuming every Cooper S has identical features.
How comfortable is the 2025 MINI Cooper S?
Comfort is the clearest trade-off in the road-test evidence. Consumer Reports called the ride stiff, which matters most on rough pavement and during longer commutes. Its findings do not mean every driver will dislike the suspension, but they show why the car’s handling strengths should not be mistaken for a soft or relaxed ride.

MINI highlights a 9.4-inch circular OLED center display and MINI Operating System 9 for the new generation. What did the 2025 Cooper S cost new?
BMW Group USA announced a $32,200 base MSRP for the 2025 Cooper S, plus $995 for destination and handling.
