The 2025 Lexus ES 300h is rated by the EPA at 43 mpg city, 44 mpg highway and 44 mpg combined. It is a front-wheel-drive, non-plug-in hybrid with 215 total system horsepower. Lexus calls it the most fuel-efficient non-plug-in luxury sedan, but that is a manufacturer comparison based on competitor information available as of May 1, 2024—not a current independent ranking of every luxury car.
2025 Lexus ES 300h fuel economy and power
Lexus lists EPA-estimated fuel economy of 43 mpg city, 44 mpg highway and 44 mpg combined for the U.S.-market 2025 ES 300h. Its hybrid system produces 215 total system horsepower. These are manufacturer specifications, not independent road-test results. Lexus’s 2025 newsroom release gives the powertrain and economy figures.

The system pairs a 2.5-liter Atkinson-cycle four-cylinder gasoline engine with electric motor(s) and a hybrid transaxle. Lexus says the lithium-ion battery is positioned beneath the rear seat, a layout it describes as helping preserve trunk space and front-to-rear weight distribution. These figures are EPA estimates for comparing vehicles; an individual driver’s mileage can differ with driving style, conditions and vehicle condition.
Is the 2025 ES 300h the most fuel-efficient luxury car?
The careful answer is that Lexus calls it the most fuel-efficient non-plug-in luxury sedan. The 2025 brochure says its comparison used information on manufacturers’ websites as of May 1, 2024, for 2024 and 2025 competitors, and excluded plug-in hybrids and battery-electric vehicles. That scope does not support a claim that the ES 300h leads every luxury vehicle, or that it remains the current leader based on an independent market-wide comparison. For a meaningful comparison with another car, match model year, vehicle class and body style, plug-in status, and EPA combined mpg; city and highway ratings and power output add useful context. A comparison should also identify the competitor data source and its date.
Canadian-market ratings are different
Lexus Canada reported 5.5 L/100 km city and 5.2 L/100 km highway for the Canadian-market 2025 front-wheel-drive ES 300h. These are Canada-specific figures and should not be presented as U.S. EPA mpg ratings. Lexus Canada’s 2025 release provides the Canadian figures.

Keep the 2026 ES separate from the 2025 hybrid
The 2026 ES is a redesigned model year with hybrid and all-electric offerings, including an ES 350h. Those vehicles are distinct from the 2025 ES 300h, so their specifications should not be applied to the 2025 car. Lexus’s 2026 ES page describes the later lineup.
