The 2025 Hyundai Santa Fe Hybrid Calligraphy is the top trim in Hyundai’s U.S. hybrid lineup, with a manufacturer-estimated starting price of $47,850 before freight, taxes, title and license. Its appeal on paper is a three-row cabin, 231-hp hybrid powertrain and available all-wheel drive; the key trade-offs to weigh are lower EPA estimates with AWD and just 14.6 cubic feet of cargo room behind the third row. Specifications alone cannot establish how it drives or how comfortable its seats are, so treat those as questions for a test drive.
What the 2025 Santa Fe Hybrid Calligraphy offers
Hyundai offers the U.S. 2025 Santa Fe Hybrid in SEL, Limited and Calligraphy trims. The Calligraphy sits at the top of that lineup. Hyundai’s model information lists a 1.6-liter turbocharged gasoline-electric powertrain, a six-speed automatic transmission, third-row seating, a 12.3-inch touchscreen, wireless device charging and Hyundai Digital Key 2. Equipment can vary by trim and vehicle configuration, so check the listing or build sheet for the exact Calligraphy you are considering.
Hyundai’s estimated starting prices for the 2025 hybrid lineup are $37,800 for SEL, $44,700 for Limited and $47,850 for Calligraphy. These are nonbinding manufacturer figures that exclude freight, tax, title and license; they are not dealer quotes or out-the-door prices. Confirm current equipment, local availability and the full price with a dealer. Hyundai’s 2025 Santa Fe Hybrid specifications and trim information provide the listed figures.
Powertrain, drive options and fuel economy
Hyundai lists 231 combined horsepower and 271 lb-ft of combined torque for the hybrid system. Front-wheel drive is standard and HTRAC all-wheel drive is optional, paired with a six-speed automatic. Those specifications describe rated output, not how quickly the vehicle responds or feels on the road.

Hyundai’s published EPA estimates differ by drive layout. They apply to the SEL, Limited and Calligraphy trims, and actual mileage varies with options, conditions, driving habits and vehicle condition.

These are Hyundai-published EPA comparison estimates for the 2025 U.S. lineup, not a guarantee of owner results. AWD’s published combined estimate is two mpg lower than FWD’s. Check the specific vehicle’s configuration and window sticker when comparing listings. Hyundai’s published 2025 estimates include the mileage qualification.

Three rows, with limited luggage space behind the third
The Santa Fe Hybrid’s listed cargo capacity shows the practical compromise of using all three rows: the rear seats can be occupied, but the space left for bags is relatively small. Hyundai lists 14.6 cubic feet behind the third row, 40.5 cubic feet behind the second row and 79.6 cubic feet behind the front seats.

For a family that regularly travels with all rows occupied, consider measuring the luggage you expect to bring and checking how it fits with the third row in use. The published volumes do not establish how easily bulky items load or how much usable space a particular bag will occupy. Hyundai also lists 151 cubic feet of passenger volume and 165.6 cubic feet of total interior volume. Hyundai’s model page lists the interior and cargo figures.

Towing capacity and equipment
Hyundai lists maximum towing capacity at 2,000 pounds with trailer brakes and 1,650 pounds without. Trailer Sway Control and trailer pre-wire are listed as standard. Towing limits and required equipment depend on the vehicle and trailer setup; verify the specific vehicle’s requirements and consult its owner’s information before towing. Hyundai’s U.S. model specifications provide the published capacities.
Safety rating: check the vehicle’s build date
The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) lists the 2025 Santa Fe as a Top Safety Pick+, but the award applies only to vehicles built after November 2024. It is a rating for the Santa Fe model line, not a Calligraphy-specific test result. IIHS reports Good ratings for small overlap front, updated moderate overlap front, updated side, vehicle-to-vehicle front crash prevention and pedestrian front crash prevention. Headlights and LATCH ease of use are rated Acceptable.

For a 2025 vehicle, check the certification label for its build date. IIHS says the updated moderate-overlap result applies to 2025–26 vehicles built after November 2024 and notes that rear-seat belt modifications were made to improve rear-occupant safety in that test. The page also shows a prior rating for vehicles built before December 2024. A used-car shopper should verify the individual vehicle’s build date and history rather than assuming every 2025 Santa Fe carries the same award eligibility. Hyundai states that its Hybrid/Electric Limited Battery Warranty covers defects in factory workmanship or materials in the lithium-ion battery for 10 years from original retail delivery or first use, or 100,000 miles, whichever comes first. Hyundai notes exceptions for lease and commercial vehicles and for vehicles serviced or registered outside the U.S. Read the Owner’s Handbook and confirm the terms that apply to the specific vehicle with a Hyundai dealer. Warranty length does not by itself describe coverage for other hybrid components.

Questions to settle on a test drive
The published specifications do not answer whether the Calligraphy’s ride, power delivery, cabin noise, controls or third-row space will suit you. Test the actual vehicle and configuration, particularly if those qualities will determine your choice.
- Drive on the roads and at the speeds you use most, and judge acceleration response and ride comfort for yourself.
- Try the infotainment and driver controls rather than assuming the screen size or listed features make them easy to use.
- Have the people who will use the third row sit there, then check access and comfort; the published cargo figures do not measure passenger fit.
- Load your usual bags with all intended seats in use to see whether the 14.6-cubic-foot space behind row three works for your trips.
- If shopping AWD, confirm that the vehicle is AWD and compare its window sticker and price with the FWD version.
Check recalls by VIN
Recall status is specific to the vehicle, so do not infer it from the model name or model year alone. Check the VIN with the NHTSA 2025 Santa Fe Hybrid AWD vehicle page and confirm any open campaign with a Hyundai dealer. For a vehicle with a different drive layout, use the NHTSA lookup to search by its own VIN.
