The 2025 Honda Odyssey is a four-trim, front-wheel-drive minivan built around a V6, flexible second-row seating and family-focused cabin technology. Honda’s published specifications and equipment explain what it offers, but they do not establish how it rides or handles on the road. Here’s what families can verify before choosing a trim.
What’s new for the 2025 Honda Odyssey?
For the 2025 model year, Honda highlighted refreshed styling and technology, including a 9-inch touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, wireless phone charging and an updated rear entertainment system. Magic Slide second-row seats are among the Odyssey’s central family features. Honda lists CabinWatch and the rear entertainment system as available on Touring and Elite; confirm the equipment on a specific vehicle before buying.
The Sport-L adds black exterior details and darkened styling. That is a visual distinction, not evidence of a change to its driving performance.
What does the Odyssey offer mechanically?
All four U.S. trims use Honda’s 3,471 cc V6, rated at 280 hp at 6,000 rpm and 262 lb-ft of torque at 4,700 rpm. The published configuration is front-wheel drive with a 10-speed automatic transmission, shift-by-wire and paddle shifters. Those manufacturer specifications do not establish real-world acceleration, ride comfort, handling or cabin noise.

What family features are worth checking in person?
- Second-row flexibility: Try the Magic Slide seats with the child seats, passengers and access needs your household actually has.
- Entertainment: If rear-seat video matters, verify that the specific Touring or Elite vehicle has the rear entertainment system. Honda identifies it as available on those trims, not standard across the lineup.
- Cabin monitoring: CabinWatch is also listed as available on Touring and Elite. Check its presence and operation on the vehicle you are considering.
- Phone setup: EX-L equipment includes wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility and a wireless charger. Test pairing with your own phone and confirm the exact trim’s equipment.
- Cargo fit: Take measurements for strollers, sports gear or other large items, and try them with the seats arranged as you would use them.
What safety and driver-assistance equipment is listed?
Honda’s specifications list the following functions across EX-L, Sport-L, Touring and Elite: Collision Mitigation Braking with Advanced Pedestrian Detection, Road Departure Mitigation, Forward Collision Warning, Lane Departure Warning, Lane Keeping Assist, Adaptive Cruise Control with Low-Speed Follow, Traffic Sign Recognition, Blind Spot Information, Cross Traffic Monitor and automatic high beams. Parking sensors are listed for Touring and Elite, not EX-L or Sport-L.

Is the Honda Odyssey a good family minivan?
On the published facts, the Odyssey merits consideration if your priorities include a V6 powertrain, front-wheel drive, a 10-speed automatic, flexible second-row seating and available rear-seat entertainment. The right trim depends on the equipment your family will use: EX-L includes a broad set of cabin conveniences, while Touring and Elite are the trims Honda identifies for available CabinWatch and rear entertainment. Sport-L mainly distinguishes itself with darker exterior styling.
There is no independent road-test evidence here to support a verdict on ride, handling, noise or driving enjoyment, and no rival-minivan comparison to establish that the Odyssey is better than another model. Arrange a drive and compare the exact trims and prices you can buy locally. Honda’s July 2024 announcement claimed the Odyssey “commands one-third of minivan segment retail sales,” but did not state the period or calculation basis, so that claim should not be treated as a current independently verified market share.
