It gets revised front styling, a standard 13.2-inch touchscreen with SYNC 4, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and—on select trims—a new hybrid all-wheel-drive option. Ford also adds the Lobo to the five-trim lineup. The right configuration depends on whether you prioritize fuel economy, traction, towing, or off-road equipment.
What’s new on the 2025 Ford Maverick?
Ford’s July 31, 2024 announcement describes the model-year update as a redesigned front end and refreshed cabin paired with significant technology and powertrain changes. The Maverick keeps its compact-pickup format; the update does not make it a clean-sheet redesign. Ford’s announcement lays out the changes.
Revised exterior and cabin
The front receives a redesigned grille and bumper, along with dark-appearance LED headlamps. Higher trims use LED projector headlamps with signature lighting. Interior colors and materials vary by trim and were also updated.
A larger screen and wireless phone connection
The previous 8-inch center screen is replaced by a standard 13.2-inch touchscreen running SYNC 4. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are included. Ford also added a 5G modem.

New hybrid AWD and the Lobo trim
Hybrid all-wheel drive is new for 2025 and is available on XL, XLT, and Lariat. Ford’s launch announcement called it the “No. 1 request of owners”; that is the manufacturer’s characterization, not a published independent survey result. The lineup now has five trims: XL, XLT, Lobo, Lariat, and Tremor.
Is the 2025 Maverick available with hybrid AWD?
Yes. The 2.5-liter hybrid is standard on XL, XLT, and Lariat, with front-wheel drive or newly available all-wheel drive depending on configuration. A 2.0-liter EcoBoost is available on those three trims. It is standard on Lobo and Tremor. Confirm the drivetrain and equipment on the specific vehicle’s window sticker; trim names alone do not establish every configuration.

Engines, transmissions, and Ford’s fuel-economy estimates
Ford’s 2025 order guide gives the following EPA label-adjusted estimates. These are published estimates, not real-world test results.

Ford’s technical specifications list 191 horsepower total system output for the hybrid and 238 hp for the 2.0L EcoBoost; Ford says those ratings are based on premium fuel and results may vary. The hybrid pairs with a power-split electronic CVT. The standard 2.0L EcoBoost uses an eight-speed automatic, while the Lobo has a seven-speed Quick Shift transmission. Ford’s technical specifications provide the configuration details.

Towing, payload, and bed dimensions
Ford lists a 2,000-pound baseline towing capacity and up to 4,000 pounds with the available 4K Tow Package on eligible configurations. The 4,000-pound figure is not universal, and Ford’s launch announcement excludes Tremor from that package claim. Check the specific vehicle’s equipment and ratings before planning a tow.
Maximum payload also varies by configuration. Ford’s specifications list up to 1,500 pounds for hybrid FWD and some EcoBoost AWD configurations, 1,400 pounds for hybrid AWD, 1,140 pounds for Tremor, and 1,045 pounds for Lobo. The vehicle’s certification label and owner’s documentation are the appropriate references for its actual limits.

The compact bed’s floor is 54.4 inches long. It measures 53.3 inches wide across the sidewalls and 42.6 inches between the wheelhouses, according to Ford’s 2025 technical specifications. Those dimensions help determine whether a particular load will fit; length and width alone do not establish payload capacity.

The five trims represent different priorities, but equipment depends on the chosen engine, drivetrain, and packages. Use Ford’s current equipment and ordering information to verify a specific build.

- XL: The entry trim; hybrid FWD is the configuration associated with Ford’s original launch price. Hybrid AWD and the EcoBoost are also available.

- Lobo: The new street-oriented choice. It comes with the 2.0L EcoBoost and a seven-speed Quick Shift transmission.
- Lariat: A higher trim with hybrid or EcoBoost powertrains and the new hybrid AWD option. Ford’s 2025 announcement says Lariat includes Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop-and-Go, Lane Centering, and Predictive Speed Assist; confirm the equipment on the vehicle’s window sticker.
- Tremor: The off-road-oriented trim, with the 2.0L EcoBoost standard. Ford’s announcement also lists the three driver-assistance features for Tremor; verify the exact vehicle’s equipment.
What did the 2025 Maverick cost?
Prices depend on date, configuration, destination charges, and options. Ford’s July 31, 2024 launch announcement set the original MSRP for the standard hybrid FWD model at $26,295, plus $1,595 destination and delivery. That dated launch figure is not a current quote.
When checked for this article, Ford’s live build page listed these trim starting prices. Because the page is dynamic and a trim’s starting price may not represent every engine or package, verify the amount and configuration before ordering.

How to choose a 2025 Maverick
- For fuel economy: Compare the hybrid FWD estimate with hybrid AWD if you need the added traction. Ford’s published combined estimates are 38 mpg for FWD and 37 mpg for AWD.
- For towing: Start with the 2,000-pound baseline, then confirm whether the exact eligible configuration has the 4K Tow Package and a 4,000-pound rating.
- For off-road use: Tremor is Ford’s off-road-oriented trim. Lobo is the distinct street-oriented alternative, not a substitute for Tremor’s stated purpose.
- For a specific load: Compare the bed’s interior dimensions with the item and check the truck’s own payload label. Bed fit and payload are separate constraints.
- For driver-assistance equipment: Check the window sticker and configuration-specific equipment list rather than assuming every trim or build has the same features.
