Every gas 2025 Equinox trim uses a 1.5-liter turbocharged, direct-injection four-cylinder rated at 175 hp at 5,600 rpm. Output differs by drivetrain: FWD produces 184 lb-ft of torque from 2,000 to 4,800 rpm, while AWD produces 203 lb-ft from 2,000 to 4,000 rpm.

Which drivetrain makes more sense?
- Choose FWD if you do not need AWD and prefer the configuration with the CVT. The documented LT FWD sticker also provides a specific fuel-economy reference, discussed below.
- Consider AWD if you want the eight-speed automatic, the higher rated torque or Chevrolet’s higher stated towing capacity. Those specifications do not establish how the system performs in particular weather or road conditions.
Chevrolet lists Normal and Snow drive modes for FWD RS and ACTIV models; AWD adds an Off-Road mode. Towing figures are maximum stated capacities, not a guarantee that every vehicle can tow that amount in every loaded condition. Passengers, cargo, options and accessories can reduce capacity; check the owner’s manual and the vehicle-specific loading information before towing.

Price and fuel economy: what the available figures establish
A MonroneyLabels.com window-sticker document for one 2025 Equinox LT FWD lists a vehicle MSRP of $28,600 before destination, a $1,395 destination charge and a $29,995 total including destination. That same specific FWD sticker reports 26 city and 28 highway MPG. These are figures for the documented LT FWD vehicle, not universal prices or fuel-economy ratings for every trim and drivetrain. The available information does not provide a complete EPA rating table across all configurations. It is therefore not enough to compare fuel economy among trims or to state an AWD rating here. Use the EPA figure on the specific vehicle’s label when comparing listings.
Interior, cargo space and dimensions
The cabin includes an 11-inch configurable driver information display and an 11.3-inch infotainment display with Google built-in. Chevrolet also lists 60/40 split-folding second-row seats, hidden storage beneath the rear cargo floor and available wireless charging. Some connected services require a service plan or linked account, and availability and functionality can vary.

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) identifies the vehicle on its page as a 2025 Chevrolet Equinox LT four-door, two-wheel-drive model and says the rating applies to 2025–27 models. The available page information here does not establish the individual test results, so consult the full IIHS Equinox rating page before drawing conclusions about specific crash-test performance.
Who should consider the 2025 Equinox?
- Look at the LT if you want the base trim and its available choice of 17- or 19-inch wheels.
- Look at the RS if its black exterior details, standard 19-inch wheels and heated flat-bottom steering wheel suit your priorities.
- Look at the ACTIV if you prefer its outdoor-inspired design, all-terrain tires and standard heated front seats and steering wheel.
