The 2024 Toyota Sienna’s strongest luxury features are concentrated in its upper trims, but the minivan offers more than upscale seating and technology. In the U.S., every Sienna is a 245-horsepower hybrid, with front-wheel drive (FWD) or available all-wheel drive (AWD), manufacturer-estimated fuel economy of up to 36 mpg combined, and seating for seven or eight depending on configuration. Whether a higher trim is worth paying for depends on which comforts you want and how you plan to use the van.
What does “big on luxury, but not much else” get right?
It captures how the range changes as you move up the trim ladder: leather-trimmed seating, additional comfort features and more technology are concentrated in the Limited and Platinum, with some equipment varying by grade or configuration. But “not much else” is an opinion, not a complete account of the Sienna. The 2024 U.S. model is hybrid-only, offers FWD or AWD, seats seven or eight, and has family-focused features and standard driver-assistance equipment. The practical question is whether those strengths—and the amenities on a particular trim—match your needs.
What do you get in the 2024 Sienna?
Hybrid power and fuel economy
Toyota lists 245 total system horsepower for the U.S. 2024 Sienna. Its manufacturer estimates are 36 mpg combined with FWD and 35 mpg combined with AWD; Toyota’s comparison page breaks those figures out as 36/36/36 mpg city/highway/combined for FWD and 35/36/35 for AWD. Seating and cargo
Toyota lists seating for seven or eight, depending on grade and second-row arrangement. Its comparison page gives cargo volumes of 33.5 cubic feet behind the third row, 75.2 behind the second row and 101 behind the first row. These are manufacturer specifications; check the exact configuration when comparing vehicles. Toyota lists ground clearance of 6.37 inches for most grades and 6.96 inches for the Woodland Edition.

Family-use equipment
Toyota lists a 9-inch touchscreen and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility. A rear entertainment system is available on grades other than LE. Other listed equipment includes heated and ventilated front seats on selected configurations, JBL audio, a head-up display and a panoramic-view monitor. The feature set is trim- and configuration-dependent, so confirm whether a desired item is standard, optional or included in a package on the specific van.
How do the six trims differ?
The U.S. lineup runs from the LE to the Platinum. Toyota’s descriptions indicate different priorities across the range; equipment details can depend on configuration.

Leather-trimmed seating, ottomans, JBL audio, a 10-inch head-up display and a panoramic-view monitor appear among Toyota’s listed higher-grade or configuration-dependent features. Do not assume they are all standard on every Limited or Platinum: check the equipment list for the vehicle being considered. Is a luxury trim worth the extra cost?
There is no single answer without a vehicle quote and a must-have list. Compare actual local offers rather than relying on historical starting prices, and first identify which features you would use regularly.

- Consider LE or XLE if your priorities are the hybrid powertrain, passenger and cargo space, and useful convenience equipment rather than premium seating or added technology.
- Consider XSE if sport-oriented styling and suspension are more important to you than the luxury trim’s emphasis.
- Consider Woodland Edition if AWD and its outdoor-oriented details fit your use; its raised stance does not, by itself, establish off-road capability.
- Consider Limited or Platinum if specific comfort or technology features justify the price difference for your household. Verify those features on the exact configuration before choosing.
Useful comparisons include FWD versus AWD, seven- versus eight-seat layouts, second-row arrangement, the equipment included or packaged on each grade, and the price difference in your local market. The vehicle with the highest trim is not automatically the best value if its added features are not ones you need.
How does the Sienna compare with the Kia Carnival?
Toyota’s own 2024 comparison lists the Sienna at 36 mpg combined for FWD and 35 mpg combined for AWD, versus 22 mpg combined for the Carnival. These are manufacturer figures in a Toyota-authored comparison, not independent test results. Use the page as a starting point for the specifications it presents, then verify Carnival equipment, warranty and other details with Kia or another suitable source before deciding which van suits you. What should a used-Sienna buyer verify?
Toyota Owners provides an interactive manual for the 2024 Sienna and publishes information on accessory and hybrid-battery warranty terms. Those published terms do not confirm that a particular used vehicle still has coverage: check its in-service date, mileage, applicable terms and vehicle history. The manual is available through Toyota Owners’ 2024 Sienna manual page. For accessories, confirm compatibility by trim or VIN rather than assuming an item fits every Sienna.
