The 2024 U.S.-market Nissan Z comes in three trims: Sport, Performance, and NISMO. Sport and Performance share a 400-hp twin-turbo V6 and both offer a six-speed manual; Performance adds upgraded chassis, braking, wheel, comfort, and infotainment equipment. The 420-hp NISMO adds dedicated performance hardware but is automatic-only. Nissan’s September 2023 launch MSRPs were $42,210, $52,210, and $64,990, respectively—not current advertised or transaction prices.
2024 Nissan Z trims at a glance
The figures below are from Nissan’s U.S. launch materials for the 2024 model year. The September 25, 2023 pricing release lists MSRP before tax, title, license, and destination; it lists destination and handling separately at $1,095. Actual dealer prices can differ.
| 2024 U.S. grade | Launch MSRP | Transmission | Output | EPA city/highway/combined |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Sport | $42,210 | 6-speed manual or 9-speed automatic | 400 hp / 350 lb-ft | Manual: 18/24/20 mpg; automatic: 19/28/22 mpg |
| Performance | $52,210 | 6-speed manual or 9-speed automatic | 400 hp / 350 lb-ft | Manual: 18/24/20 mpg; automatic: 19/28/22 mpg |
| NISMO | $64,990 | NISMO-tuned 9-speed automatic only | 420 hp / 384 lb-ft | Automatic: 17/24/19 mpg |
Sources: Nissan’s September 2023 U.S. pricing release and the 2024 Nissan Z brochure. The release lists NISMO at $64,990; Nissan’s 2024 NISMO press kit instead displays $65,750 MSRP and $1,140 destination. Because those official launch figures conflict, the table uses the dated release’s grade-by-grade price and keeps destination separate.
What does the Sport trim include?
Sport is the entry grade, but not a stripped-down version of the Z. It has rear-wheel drive, a 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 rated at 400 hp and 350 lb-ft, and a choice of six-speed manual or nine-speed automatic. Its standard equipment includes 18-inch wheels with Yokohama ADVAN Sport tires, cloth seats, an 8-inch touchscreen, six-speaker audio, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, front and rear parking sensors, and driver-assistance features.

Choose Sport if the core powertrain and manual option matter most and you prefer the lowest launch MSRP. Nissan’s September 2023 release also lists splash guards as a port-installed option for Sport; verify model-year and trim fitment before buying 2024 Nissan Z splash guards.
What’s the difference between the Nissan Z Sport and Performance?
Performance keeps the Sport’s 400-hp, 350-lb-ft engine and offers the same two transmissions. The extra cost buys equipment rather than more engine output: a mechanical clutch-type limited-slip differential, launch control, larger 14-inch front brakes, 19-inch forged RAYS wheels with Bridgestone Potenza S007 tires, and added cabin and infotainment features.

The limited-slip differential and launch control are specific additions listed for Performance. Its larger front brakes and upgraded wheels and tires are also part of the grade’s hardware step-up.
Cabin and technology
Performance adds Bose eight-speaker audio, a 9-inch touchscreen with navigation, NissanConnect services and Wi-Fi hotspot, heated mirrors, aluminum sport pedals, and heated leather-appointed power seats.

In short, Performance is the choice for the Z’s additional traction, braking, wheel-and-tire, comfort, and infotainment equipment while retaining the Sport’s output and manual availability.
What sets the 2024 Nissan Z NISMO apart?
NISMO is the top, more track-focused grade. Nissan rates its revised 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 at 420 hp and 384 lb-ft—20 hp and 34 lb-ft more than Sport and Performance. Its U.S. 2024 specification offers only a NISMO-tuned nine-speed automatic, not a manual.
Rank #4
Nissan lists NISMO-tuned suspension and brakes, a 15-inch front rotor, a retuned chassis and aerodynamic package, wider rear wheel-and-tire fitment with Dunlop SP SPORT MAXX GT600 tires, Recaro seats, and a leather-and-Alcantara steering wheel. Nissan says the revisions are intended to improve driving dynamics and track capability; that claim is not an independent lap-time result.
The trade-offs are its substantially higher launch MSRP, automatic-only configuration, and lower EPA estimates than the other grades. The NISMO is the trim to consider if its extra output and dedicated equipment suit your priorities; the official specifications alone cannot determine whether the price difference is worthwhile for a particular driver or budget.

Which 2024 Nissan Z trims come with a manual?
Both Sport and Performance are available with a six-speed manual. NISMO is automatic-only in Nissan’s 2024 U.S. specifications. If a manual transmission is essential, the choice is between Sport and Performance: the engine output is the same, so the decision turns on whether Performance’s additional hardware and equipment justify its higher launch MSRP.
Fuel economy, weight, and everyday context
Nissan’s 2024 brochure gives EPA estimates of 18 city/24 highway/20 combined mpg for manual Sport and Performance, 19/28/22 mpg for their automatic versions, and 17/24/19 mpg for automatic NISMO. These are official estimates, not a promise of real-world consumption. Nissan recommends premium unleaded fuel.
| Grade and transmission | Curb weight | EPA city/highway/combined |
|---|---|---|
| Sport, manual | 3,486 lb | 18/24/20 mpg |
| Sport, automatic | 3,549 lb | 19/28/22 mpg |
| Performance, manual | 3,536 lb | 18/24/20 mpg |
| Performance, automatic | 3,602 lb | 19/28/22 mpg |
| NISMO, automatic | 3,704 lb | 17/24/19 mpg |
The brochure also lists 6.9 cubic feet of cargo volume and a 16.4-gallon fuel tank. These figures provide useful context across the lineup, but they do not establish current fuel costs, resale values, or dealer pricing.
Which 2024 Nissan Z trim should you choose?
- Choose Sport if you want the Z’s 400-hp engine and a manual option at the lowest listed launch MSRP, without paying for Performance’s equipment.
- Choose Performance if you want the limited-slip differential, upgraded brakes and wheels, plus the added audio, navigation, and comfort features. It does not add horsepower over Sport.
- Consider NISMO if the additional 20 hp, NISMO-specific chassis and brake hardware, and exclusive cabin details matter more to you than having a manual or the lower trims’ official EPA estimates.
These are comparisons of Nissan’s 2024 U.S. model specifications and historical launch MSRPs. They do not establish the price or availability of a particular car today.
