2024 Mazda3 sedan vs. hatchback
The lineup shares trim names for most packages, but a matching name does not mean identical starting price or equipment. The 2.5 S Premium manual was hatchback-only, and Mazda’s announced starting prices for shared trims were higher for hatchbacks than sedans. Check the exact body style and package when comparing listings, equipment, or parts fitment.

Engines, transmissions, and AWD
2.5 S naturally aspirated engine
Mazda lists the naturally aspirated Skyactiv-G 2.5-liter engine at 191 horsepower and 186 lb-ft of torque. The cited 2.5 S configuration pairs it with a six-speed automatic with manual shift mode and front-wheel drive. Mazda says it can use regular or premium fuel. These specifications should not be applied to the turbo trims.
Turbo and drivetrain choices
Mazda’s announcement identifies AWD for Carbon Edition and turbo configurations, while standard 2.5 S configurations are front-wheel drive. The turbocharged engine has different output; the announcement’s 191-hp figure belongs to the naturally aspirated 2.5 S, not every Mazda3. Confirm the specific trim and configuration rather than assuming all cars with the same body style share a drivetrain.

Does the 2024 Mazda3 have a manual transmission?
Yes. Mazda announced a 2.5 S Premium six-speed manual package for the hatchback only. The 2.5 S automatic is a separate configuration; the manual should not be described as available across the sedan lineup.

Equipment and driver-assistance features
Equipment depends on trim, package, and body style. Mazda said the 2.5 S sedan included a set of i-Activsense driver-support features and, for 2024, added Blind Spot Monitoring, Rear Cross-Traffic Alert, and Rear Door Alert as standard. Examples of higher-trim equipment in the announcement include wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto on Carbon Edition, and a 360-degree view monitor, front and rear parking sensors, and Traffic Jam Assist on Turbo Premium Plus. These examples do not establish that every feature is available on every version of a named trim.
Mazda describes i-ACTIVSENSE as a group of driver-support and pre-crash safety systems, not a substitute for attentive driving. The 2024 Mazda3 Owner’s Manual warns: “Do not rely completely on the i-ACTIVSENSE system.” It explains that the systems have limitations and the driver remains responsible for careful driving.
