Ford lists up to 8,200 pounds of conventional towing for Raptor and 8,700 pounds for Raptor R, but those are maximums for properly equipped trucks—not guarantees for every build. Ford’s published technical materials establish these specifications but do not establish a definitive U.S. MSRP for every configuration.
2024 F-150 Raptor vs. Raptor R: key differences
Both are SuperCrew, four-wheel-drive F-150s with a 5.5-foot box, but the Raptor R is the higher-output, 37-inch-tire version. The figures below are Ford’s published 2024 specifications for the U.S. market; towing and payload are stated maxima, subject to configuration and load.

Ford rates horsepower and torque on premium fuel under SAE J1349. These are factory ratings, not independent test results. Ford says the 2024 Raptor R gained 20 hp through reduced air-inlet losses and optimized calibration; that increase applies to Raptor R, not the standard V6 Raptor. Engines, transmission, and four-wheel drive
The standard Raptor’s 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 uses twin turbochargers and intercooling. Raptor R’s 5.2-liter V8 is supercharged and intercooled. Both are paired with a 10-speed automatic and a two-speed, torque-on-demand four-wheel-drive system with mechanical lock. Ford lists an electronic locking rear differential and a 4.10 axle ratio for the trucks.

The transfer case’s listed ratios are 1:1 in 4-high and 2.64:1 in 4-low. Low range provides a lower gearing ratio for controlled travel at low speeds; the locking rear differential can help maintain drive when traction differs between the rear wheels.
Suspension and off-road driving features
FOX shocks and rear suspension
Ford describes the Raptor’s FOX Dual Live Valve shocks as using position-sensitive compression control and continuously variable rebound control to adapt damping to terrain. The five-link rear suspension uses long trailing arms, a Panhard rod, and 24-inch coil springs. These are design features, not a guarantee that every setup will feel or perform identically across surfaces or loads.

Drive modes and driver aids
Ford lists seven selectable drive modes and standard Trail Control, with One-Pedal Drive available. Equipment can vary by truck, so check the build sheet or window sticker for the specific vehicle rather than assuming an available feature is fitted.
Approach, departure, and breakover angles
Ford’s geometry figures show the benefit of the 37-inch-tire configuration on paper. Angles are manufacturer-listed specifications; actual clearance on a trail can also depend on load, tire pressure, terrain, and vehicle setup.

Bumper and lighting options
Ford says a modular front bumper is available on Raptor vehicles with 37-inch tires, and an available light-bar attachment can be fitted to vehicles equipped with that bumper. Confirm the bumper and attachment compatibility for the specific truck before buying accessories.
Towing, payload, and bed utility
Ford lists maximum conventional towing of 8,200 pounds for Raptor and 8,700 pounds for Raptor R, with maximum payload of 1,400 pounds for both. Those figures are specification-sheet ceilings, not ratings that apply to every truck. Ford’s 2024 F-150 Towing Guide says capability varies with configuration, cargo, accessories, options, and passenger count, and maximum ratings apply to properly equipped vehicles.

Both versions are listed with a 5.5-foot box and 52.8 cubic feet of cargo volume. Before towing or loading, use the rating for the individual truck and account for passengers and cargo; do not rely on the model-level maximum alone.

The same sheet lists 2.0-kW Pro Power Onboard for Raptor only. It does not list that feature as standard on Raptor R, so verify equipment on the particular vehicle. Features and connected services may also depend on equipment, activation, or service availability.
What does a 2024 Ford F-150 Raptor cost?
A definitive U.S. MSRP for every 2024 Raptor configuration is not established by the Ford technical specification sheet or towing guide cited here. A single starting-price figure would therefore risk confusing an original base MSRP with destination charges, options, dealer adjustments, or a used truck’s current asking price.
For a specific truck, check its original window sticker for its configured MSRP and destination charge, then compare that with the seller’s current asking price and itemized dealer fees. Raptor and Raptor R are distinct configurations, and options and equipment affect the final sticker. The current used-market price is transaction- and date-specific, so it should not be inferred from a model-year specification sheet.
Which 2024 Raptor configuration makes more sense?
- Choose the standard Raptor if its V6 output, 35-inch-tire configuration, and listed capability suit your needs; it also has the published 2.0-kW Pro Power Onboard specification.
- Consider Raptor R if the supercharged V8’s higher factory output and 37-inch-tire configuration are priorities. Its listed towing maximum is higher, while maximum payload is the same as standard Raptor.
- Before purchase, compare the individual truck’s window sticker, installed tire size, equipment, towing rating, and actual asking-price breakdown. The model-level figures do not replace vehicle-specific documentation.
