The BMW CE 02 is a compact electric urban two-wheeler with a 59-mph US-listed top speed and a 56-mile WMTC estimated range. It may suit short city trips, but its range figure is a test-cycle estimate, luggage is optional, and the launch price is historical—not a 2026 quote. BMW calls it an “eParkourer”; that is its positioning language, not a separate regulated vehicle class.
What the BMW CE 02 is—and what it is not
BMW describes the CE 02 as “neither an e-motorbike nor an e-scooter” and uses “eParkourer” as a product label. For a buyer, the practical questions are more useful than the label: whether the available version is legal to ride with your licence, whether its speed and range suit your routes, and whether you can live with its limited standard carrying capacity.
The figures below are market-specific. The US 2024 launch specification is not interchangeable with the global restricted version or Canadian launch estimate.

WMTC is a standardized test method. The 56-mile figure should not be treated as a promise for every commute: route, speed, riding conditions and other variables affect the distance a rider can cover. The launch material does not establish a universal real-world range.

Price and availability: what is established
BMW Motorrad USA announced a US MSRP of $7,599 plus destination for the 2024 CE 02 on July 7, 2023. That is the model’s historical launch price, not a current 2026 dealer quote. In a May 6, 2024 review, BMWBlog reported $9,069 as tested for its configured test bikes; that figure describes that review configuration, not the standard price or a current offer. BMW Motorrad USA’s 2023 launch announcement and BMWBlog’s 2024 review provide those dated contexts.
BMW’s current US model page is live and lists equipment and accessories, but it does not settle the price, availability, or remaining inventory for a particular dealer in 2026. Ask a BMW Motorrad dealer for a written quote and confirmation of the model year, trim, included charger, and actual stock before making a decision. BMW’s US CE 02 model page is useful for checking the listed equipment.

Other launch-era prices are not directly comparable with US pricing. TechRadar reported UK prices of £7,450 for the base version and £8,450 for the full-power version; these are publication-reported UK context, not current prices or US equivalents. Versions, power and licence rules vary by market
BMW’s global launch material describes an 11 kW maximum / 6 kW rated version with a 95 km/h top speed and more than 90 km of WMTC range. It also describes a restricted 4 kW maximum / 3.2 kW rated version limited to 45 km/h. BMW notes that country rules govern licensing and rider eligibility, so do not assume that a particular version qualifies for your licence or local vehicle category. Canadian launch copy stated an estimate of up to 90 km WMTC and said an NRCan-confirmed range figure was “to follow.” That was a launch-time caveat, not a current Canadian certification finding. BMW Motorrad Canada’s launch announcement provides that dated context.
Charging: standard charger versus optional quick charger
BMW’s US release describes a standard 0.9 kW household-socket charger and an optional 1.5 kW quick charger. In its charger discussion, BMW quotes 20–80% charging times of 170 minutes with the 0.9 kW charger and 140 minutes with the 1.5 kW unit; its specification table rounds those to 2 hours 50 minutes and 2 hours 20 minutes, respectively. Check the exact charger and regional equipment on the specific bike: the faster option is not the standard configuration described in the release. These are AC charger figures, not a claim of rapid DC charging. BMW Motorrad USA’s launch release contains both the charger discussion and specification table.

In practical terms, confirm what is included before planning a charging routine. A household-socket charger is useful only if you can reliably park within reach of a suitable outlet; the optional charger’s shorter quoted 20–80% time may matter if downtime is a constraint. The cited times cover 20–80%, not a full-charge time.

Riding modes
BMW describes Flow as a softer throttle setup with medium recuperation and Surf as direct throttle response with zero recuperation. Flash is an optional sporty mode associated with the US launch’s HIGHLINE equipment. Confirm the trim and included modes on the bike being offered rather than assuming every configuration includes Flash. BMW’s US release describes the mode setup.

Storage and luggage
BMWBlog’s reviewer reported that the CE 02 had no built-in storage or cubbies. BMW offers luggage options, but their availability and compatibility depend on market and model year. The 2024 US release lists 16-liter side cases, 35–42-liter and 50–60-liter side-case options, a 29-liter light top case, and a luggage carrier. BMW’s current US technical page also lists a top case, comfort seat, footrests, side bags, cockpit fairing and additional charger among optional accessories. Ask the dealer to confirm fitment and whether the quoted bike includes any of them. BMWBlog’s review, BMW’s launch release and BMW’s US model page describe these points.
How to read the riding impressions
BMWBlog’s reviewer said a riding day ended with 30% charge remaining after eight hours. That is one reviewer’s experience, not a controlled range test or a prediction for another rider’s trip. TechRadar was favorable about the CE 02’s urban character and charging simplicity, while identifying price as its sticking point. These are attributed editorial impressions, not independent comparative test results. BMWBlog and TechRadar discuss their review experiences.
