The 2024 Audi Q5 is a five-seat compact luxury SUV offered with different gasoline and plug-in-hybrid powertrains, so the exact vehicle matters more than the Q5 badge alone. The cited model-year specifications list the 40 TFSI, 45 TFSI and 55 TFSI e; verify a used car’s configuration, equipment and ratings against its window sticker, VIN and EPA label.
What is the 2024 Audi Q5?
The 2024 Q5 is part of the generation that preceded Audi’s redesigned 2025 model. Audi identified the all-new Q5 as a 2025 model in its launch announcement, so newer-generation specifications should not be applied to a 2024 vehicle. Audi’s 2025 launch announcement and its 2025 Q5 overview concern the newer model.
The cited 2024 model-year overview describes three trim names—Premium, Premium Plus and Prestige—and three powertrain designations. They are not interchangeable: check the specific car’s window sticker or factory VIN build sheet to establish its engine, drivetrain, packages and installed equipment. The figures below are reported specifications from Audi Car USA’s 2024 Q5 overview; confirm the exact configuration before relying on them for a particular listing.
How do the 40 TFSI, 45 TFSI and 55 TFSI e differ?
| Version | Powertrain and reported output | Reported efficiency or electric range | What to consider |
|---|---|---|---|
| 40 TFSI | 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder; 201 hp and 236 lb-ft | EPA estimate: 23 mpg city, 29 mpg highway and 25 mpg combined | The lower-output gasoline version in the cited overview. Confirm the rating and configuration on the exact vehicle’s label. |
| 45 TFSI | 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder; 261 hp and 273 lb-ft | 24 mpg combined, as reported in the cited overview; city and highway values are not stated there | The higher-output gasoline version. Verify the individual vehicle’s drivetrain and EPA label. |
| 55 TFSI e | Plug-in hybrid; 362 hp and 369 lb-ft combined | 23 miles of electric range, as reported in the cited overview | Electric-only distance depends on conditions and battery state. Check the vehicle’s EPA label and consider whether you can charge regularly. |
These specifications are attributed to Audi Car USA’s 2024 overview, an undated page accessed in 2026. They are not a substitute for the sticker or EPA information for the exact trim, drivetrain and wheel configuration. The 55 TFSI e’s reported 23-mile electric range is a modest distance for electric-only driving; gasoline mpg in hybrid operation and electric range describe different kinds of use.

Is the 2024 Audi Q5 a good used SUV?
It may suit a buyer seeking a five-passenger luxury SUV with a choice of gasoline or plug-in-hybrid powertrains, but a model-year overview cannot establish whether a specific used example is a good buy. Compare actual vehicles by configuration, equipment, price, mileage, maintenance history and remaining coverage—not trim name alone. For a 55 TFSI e, include access to routine charging and your typical trip length in the decision.
- Confirm whether the car is a 40 TFSI, 45 TFSI or 55 TFSI e, and verify its equipment on the window sticker or factory VIN build sheet.
- Compare mileage, asking price, maintenance records and condition across vehicles with similar equipment.
- Check the original in-service date, current odometer, warranty status and any CPO documentation.
- Look up open recalls by VIN through Audi or NHTSA, and confirm that completed recall work is documented.
How safe is the 2024 Q5?
The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety lists the 2024 Audi Q5 as a Top Safety Pick, but that award does not mean every individual test result is Good. IIHS’s rating page reports Good results for the small-overlap front tests, a Marginal result for the updated moderate-overlap front test, an Acceptable result for the updated side test and a Marginal result for the standard pedestrian front crash-prevention system. The updated moderate-overlap evaluation used a 2023 Q5 and applies to 2023–25 models; the updated side evaluation also applies to 2023–25 models.

What to verify before buying a used 2024 Q5
- Identify the exact vehicle: Match the VIN to the listing and use the window sticker or factory build sheet to confirm powertrain, trim, packages and installed options.
- Check its ratings and labels: Review the IIHS results that apply to the model and equipment, and consult the vehicle’s EPA label for fuel economy or plug-in range rather than assuming every version shares one rating.
- Review ownership records: Ask for service history, odometer information and documentation of repairs or recall work. Check open recalls by VIN through Audi or NHTSA.
- Establish remaining coverage: Confirm the original in-service date, mileage, any CPO status and the coverage terms applicable to that VIN.
- Match the powertrain to your use: Compare the gasoline versions by output and labeled economy. For the 55 TFSI e, assess whether regular charging and its verified electric range suit your daily driving.
