This guide covers the U.S.-market sixth-generation CR-V and identifies what Honda lists for each trim so you can read photos without assuming every feature is standard.
What does the 2023 Honda CR-V interior look like?
The cabin has a broad, horizontal layout. A metal honeycomb-style mesh stretches across the dashboard and conceals the air vents, while Honda says the instrument panel uses minimal cutlines to help reduce windshield reflections. The center console sits between the front seats, and the rear seatbacks use a 60/40 split-folding design. These are Honda’s descriptions of the cabin design, not independent assessments of visibility or usability.
Honda lists a 7-inch digital instrument panel, with the display varying by powertrain: it can show a tachometer or a hybrid power-flow display. Look at the center touchscreen and upholstery as well as the dashboard when comparing photos; those details help distinguish trims.
How the interior changes by trim
Honda’s U.S. 2023 specifications list five trims: LX, EX, EX-L, Sport, and Sport Touring. The launch release initially described four trims, so the later specification lineup is the clearest reference for the full model-year range. The details below are Honda’s U.S. model-year descriptions; equipment can differ in other markets or configurations.

| Trim | Seats and cabin details | Center screen and notable technology |
|---|---|---|
| LX | Honda lists the LX in the lineup; the cited material does not specify its seat upholstery details here. | The cited material does not establish a screen size or higher-trim technology for the LX. |
| EX | Gray or black cloth seating; Honda’s launch description lists an 8-way power driver’s seat. | 7-inch touchscreen. |
| EX-L | Gray or black leather seating surfaces. | 9-inch touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and Qi-compatible wireless charging. |
| Sport | Black cloth seats, orange contrast stitching, and a black headliner. | 7-inch touchscreen and a hybrid power-flow display. |
| Sport Touring | Black or gray leather seating surfaces, orange contrast stitching, and a black headliner. | 9-inch touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Qi-compatible wireless charging, and a 12-speaker Bose audio system. |
Honda’s specifications describe the 7-inch screen on EX and Sport and the 9-inch screen on EX-L and Sport Touring. The 9-inch system has physical volume controls. Wireless phone integration and wireless charging are listed for EX-L and Sport Touring, not as universal CR-V features.
What to look for in interior photos
- Dashboard: The metal honeycomb-style mesh runs across the dash and hides the vents, creating the cabin’s most distinctive visual feature.
- Seats and stitching: Cloth versus leather, seat color, orange stitching, and the black headliner can help identify a trim. Orange stitching and the black headliner are listed for Sport and Sport Touring.
- Center display: A 7-inch screen points to EX or Sport in Honda’s trim descriptions; a 9-inch display is listed for EX-L and Sport Touring.
- Console and charging: The center console is a visible storage area; Honda’s launch release gives its bin capacity as 9 liters. Qi-compatible wireless charging is a listed EX-L and Sport Touring feature.
- Rear seating: The 60/40 split seatbacks can fold to expand cargo space. Rear USB-C ports and other equipment can vary by trim, so do not infer them from a photo of another version.
A photo shows one vehicle’s configuration, not the equipment of every 2023 CR-V. Honda’s published trim descriptions are the best guide when a caption or vehicle identification is unavailable.

Passenger room and cargo capacity
Honda’s 2023 specifications list 41.3 inches of front-row legroom and 41.0 inches in the second row. Cargo capacity requires a little more care because the rear load-floor position changes the quoted figure.
| Cargo measurement | Honda figure and context |
|---|---|
| Behind second row | 39.3 cubic feet in Honda’s 2023 specifications table. Honda’s 2022 launch release separately gives 36.3 cubic feet with the rear load floor in its standard position. |
| Behind first row | Up to 76.5 cubic feet in Honda’s 2023 specifications table. |
| Lowered rear load floor | EX and EX-L can lower the rear load floor to reach 39.3 cubic feet, according to Honda’s 2022 launch release. |
The 36.3- and 39.3-cubic-foot figures are not interchangeable descriptions of the same load-floor position: the launch release identifies 36.3 cubic feet as the standard-floor figure and 39.3 cubic feet for EX and EX-L with the floor lowered. The later specifications table lists 39.3 cubic feet behind the second row.

Cabin and cargo accessories
Honda’s 2023 Genuine Accessories brochure lists options including all-season floor mats, a cargo tray, seat-back protectors, a cargo cover, a cargo net, and a cargo organizer. The brochure establishes these as accessory categories, not current stock or fitment for every CR-V. Before buying, verify that a specific listing fits the model year, trim, and hybrid configuration of the vehicle.
