The 2023 Harley-Davidson X 500 is a liquid-cooled, 500cc parallel-twin roadster with a manufacturer-rated 47 hp (35 kW) at 8,500 rpm and 46 Nm of torque at 6,000 rpm. It was introduced through Harley-Davidson’s collaboration with QJMotor; its engine layout and published dimensions mark it as a different kind of Harley from the brand’s familiar V-twin cruisers.
What was revealed in 2023?
Autocar India reported on April 20, 2023, that the X 500 was the second product from the Harley-Davidson and QJMotor collaboration. At the time, the report said the motorcycle was being sold only in China. That was a statement about its market availability in 2023, not a reliable guide to where it can be bought today: Harley-Davidson has since published regional product information, and availability can vary by country and model year.
Harley-Davidson describes the bike’s styling as “Inspired by design cues from Harley-Davidson Sportster™ models.” That is a styling reference, not a claim that the X 500 is mechanically a Sportster.
How much horsepower does the Harley-Davidson X 500 make?
Harley-Davidson’s regional specification lists peak output as 47 hp (35 kW) at 8,500 rpm and peak torque as 46 Nm at 6,000 rpm. These are published manufacturer ratings, not independent dynamometer or road-test results. Autocar India reported 47.5 hp at the 2023 reveal; the later regional Harley-Davidson specification rounds the figure to 47 hp.

These figures come from Harley-Davidson’s regional product specification and can differ across markets or model years. The 208 kg running-order weight, 820 mm unladen seat height and 1,485 mm wheelbase describe a substantial middleweight roadster on paper; they do not establish how it feels to ride.
How the X 500 relates to QJMotor and the Benelli Leoncino 500
The X 500’s parallel-twin layout is a departure from the V-twin configuration many riders associate with Harley-Davidson. Autocar India reported that the motorcycle was made by QJMotor and based on the Benelli Leoncino 500 platform, citing matching engine and bore-and-stroke figures and similarities in the frame and swingarm. That platform relationship is the publication’s report; Harley-Davidson’s cited product specification does not independently confirm the architecture claim.

What are the X 500’s tire specifications?
Harley-Davidson lists Maxxis Supermaxx ST tires: 120/70-ZR17/58W at the front and 160/60-ZR17/69W at the rear. Before ordering replacements, confirm the exact fitment and load and speed ratings for the motorcycle’s market and model year. The manufacturer’s 2023 parts catalog also advises using the correct part number; parts inquiries should be checked against the full VIN.

Harley-Davidson’s Service Information Portal lists a 2023 X 500 owner’s manual, published November 4, 2025, and a parts catalog, published May 28, 2024. Use the manual and confirm part numbers against the VIN and the motorcycle’s market specification before ordering.
