No credible official announcement showed that a production 2022 Dodge Barracuda was happening. Dodge’s 2022 announcements instead focused on the Hornet, the Charger and Challenger’s final-edition plans, and the all-electric Charger Daytona SRT Concept. Barracuda revival claims remained speculation, not a confirmed model launch.
Did Dodge announce a 2022 Barracuda?
No. The reviewed Dodge and Stellantis announcements do not name a production 2022 Dodge Barracuda, provide a model-year specification, or say customers could order one. That distinction matters: a revival rumor is not evidence of a planned or available car.
Dodge’s June 23, 2022 Speed Week announcement laid out three planned product-reveal nights for August 15–17, organized around “current muscle,” “gateway muscle” and “future muscle.” It framed the event as a roadmap for Dodge’s performance future, but did not announce a Barracuda.
What Dodge actually announced in 2022
Charger and Challenger Last Call editions
On August 15, Dodge said the Charger and Challenger were coming to an end in their existing form. Its Last Call announcement described seven special 2023 models, heritage colors, expanded SRT Jailbreak models and a commemorative underhood plaque. It did not identify a Barracuda as their replacement or as a scheduled production car.

Hornet and the future-muscle concept
In reporting the 2022 sales year, FCA identified the Dodge announcements as the Hornet, the seven Charger and Challenger Last Call editions, and the all-electric Charger Daytona SRT Concept. Its January 4, 2023 sales release also reported that U.S. 2022 sales of the Challenger rose 1% and Charger sales rose 2% versus calendar year 2021. The release did not list a Barracuda.
Stellantis’ November 1, 2022 Charger Daytona SRT Concept announcement described a battery-electric concept as an update on Dodge’s road to electrification and discussed nine possible powertrain outputs. Among the future-muscle signals in the reviewed 2022 material, this was the clearest disclosed direction—not a Barracuda production announcement.

Why did Barracuda rumors continue?
A dealer article titled “Dodge Barracuda – Is it for Real?” floated possibilities such as a smaller production run, shared Dodge architecture and high-output HEMI power. However, it labeled those claims as speculation and said the dealership had contacted FCA for comment. It offered no manufacturer confirmation, production date, model-year specifications or ordering information. Those ideas are rumor context, not proof that a 2022 car was planned.
Was a Barracuda going to replace the Challenger?
There is no official evidence in the reviewed announcements that Dodge planned a Barracuda to replace the Challenger. Dodge did disclose that the Charger and Challenger were ending in their existing form and later presented the Charger Daytona SRT Concept as part of its electrification direction. Those announcements establish what Dodge publicly discussed; they do not establish a Barracuda replacement.

A useful way to separate the claims from confirmed products is to compare what was publicly documented:
| Vehicle or claim | Confirmed status in the cited announcements | Body style or platform | Powertrain | Timing and ordering |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2022 Dodge Barracuda | No production announcement found | Not stated in an official announcement | Not stated in an official announcement | No production date, model-year specification or ordering information was provided |
| Charger and Challenger Last Call editions | Announced by Dodge | Existing Charger and Challenger forms | Not specified in the cited announcement | Seven special 2023 models announced; the current forms were coming to an end |
| Charger Daytona SRT Concept | Announced as a concept, not as a Barracuda | Not stated in the cited announcement | Battery-electric concept; nine possible powertrain outputs discussed | Revealed November 1, 2022; the release described a future-muscle direction, not Barracuda ordering |
What to conclude about a new Dodge Barracuda
Based on Dodge and Stellantis’ reviewed announcements, there was no confirmed production 2022 Dodge Barracuda and no official announcement that a Barracuda would replace the Challenger. Claims about a revival should be treated as unverified unless Dodge or Stellantis provides specific production, model-year and ordering details.
