It combines a fuel-injected 134.7cc single, five-speed manual transmission, 30.7-inch seat, inverted fork, and disc brakes at both ends. It is lively and easy to maneuver in town, but its roughly 60–70-mph real-world ceiling and 1.9-gallon tank make it a poor choice for sustained freeway travel or touring.
2022 Benelli TNT 135 at a glance
The 2022 Benelli TNT 135 is a small, fuel-injected naked motorcycle built for urban riding, short recreational trips, and riders who want a manual mini-moto without spending much. Its 134.7cc single-cylinder engine makes a claimed 11.3 horsepower, the five-speed transmission keeps it engaging in city traffic, and the low 30.7-inch seat makes it approachable for shorter or newer riders.
It is not a miniature highway sportbike. The TNT 135 has limited high-speed reserve, a 1.9-gallon tank, and a compact chassis that is best suited to city streets and tight back roads rather than sustained freeway travel, touring, heavy loads, or frequent two-up riding.

Performance: lively in town, limited at speed
The TNT 135’s performance is best understood in terms of where it is used. Its small dimensions, low-speed gearing, and 255.7-pound listed weight make it easy to maneuver through urban traffic and entertaining on winding neighborhood roads. The five-speed gearbox gives the rider more involvement than an automatic scooter, while fuel injection should make starting and throttle response more consistent than on a comparable carbureted bike.
#1 Best Overall
- For best performance, follow the manufacturer's recommendations in your vehicle owner’s manual
Benelli lists 11.3 hp at 8,500 rpm and 7.4 lb-ft of torque at 7,000 rpm. Those figures are modest, but they are appropriate for a lightweight mini-motorcycle. Acceleration should feel energetic at ordinary city speeds, especially for a lighter rider. As speed increases, however, the engine has less ability to overcome a headwind, hill, heavier rider, or passenger.
There is no reliable, independently documented 0-to-60-mph test for an otherwise stock 2022 U.S.-specification TNT 135 in the reviewed material. It would be misleading to assign one. This is a motorcycle that feels quick and playful at urban speeds, not one that should be evaluated by sports-bike acceleration standards.
Top speed
Top-speed claims vary by source and market. An international Benelli product page lists 95 km/h, or approximately 59 mph. Owner reports and secondary reviews sometimes describe 105–115 km/h, or roughly 65–71 mph, in favorable conditions. Rider weight, wind, road gradient, gearing, instrument accuracy, and market-specific equipment can all affect the result.
A realistic description is that the TNT 135 is approximately a 60–70-mph motorcycle, with the upper end dependent on conditions. That range should not be treated as a guaranteed speed, and it should not be confused with comfortable sustained freeway performance. Even if the motorcycle can reach traffic speeds briefly, its small engine and compact chassis leave little reserve for merging, passing, hills, or strong wind.

Engine and transmission details
The U.S.-market 2022 TNT 135 uses a 134.7cc single-cylinder engine with a 54mm bore, 58.8mm stroke, 9.8:1 compression ratio, four valves, SOHC valve actuation, double spark plugs, electronic fuel injection, and oil cooling. The engine drives the rear wheel through a five-speed manual transmission and chain final drive.
Some international Benelli pages describe the TNT 135 as air-cooled or publish slightly different metric output figures. Those specifications should not be mixed with the U.S. model. For a U.S. 2022 article, the U.S. Benelli/SSR specification is the appropriate reference.

The manual gearbox is one of the bike’s main attractions. It gives new riders a manageable introduction to clutch and gear control, while experienced riders can keep the single-cylinder engine in its useful rev range. The trade-off is that the rider must shift actively in traffic and on hills; this is not a twist-and-go commuter.
Handling, suspension, and braking
The TNT 135 uses a steel trellis-style frame, a 47.8-inch wheelbase, 12-inch cast wheels, and relatively substantial inverted front suspension. The short wheelbase and narrow proportions make it easy to turn around, filter through slow traffic where legal, and place accurately on tight roads.

At the rear, the shock has spring-preload adjustment, which can help compensate for rider weight or occasional load changes. Adjustment does not turn the TNT 135 into a touring motorcycle, but it is useful equipment for a small bike at this price.
Braking hardware consists of a 220mm front disc with a two-piston caliper and a 190mm rear disc with a single-piston caliper. That is more motorcycle-like than the equipment found on many basic pit-bike-style machines. The supplied U.S. specification identifies the disc sizes and calipers but does not establish that every 2022 U.S. example has ABS, so buyers should verify the equipment on the specific motorcycle rather than assume it.
Dimensions and everyday usability
- Length: 68.9 inches
- Width: 29.7 inches
- Height: 40.4 inches
- Wheelbase: 47.8 inches
- Ground clearance: 6.3 inches
- Seat height: 30.7 inches
- Listed weight: 255.7 pounds
- Fuel capacity: 1.9 gallons
The low seat is one of the TNT 135’s most useful features. Seat height alone does not determine whether a rider can flat-foot a motorcycle—seat width, suspension sag, inseam, and riding boots matter too—but the compact Benelli should be less intimidating than a full-size naked bike.
The small tank helps keep the motorcycle compact but limits long-distance convenience. Fuel economy reports vary widely: one 2022 owner’s Fuelly log averaged 81.4 mpg, while other sources report approximately 94 mpg or around 40 km/L. These are individual or publication-level observations, not a standardized EPA rating. Actual range depends on riding style, rider weight, traffic, fuel reserve practice, and how much fuel the rider is comfortable using before refueling.

2022 Benelli TNT 135 price
The 2022 U.S. base MSRP was $2,999. That figure applied to the listed black, red, and white versions and excluded taxes, registration, freight, preparation, documentation, and other dealer charges. The amount a buyer actually paid could therefore be materially higher than the advertised base price.
Benelli’s current U.S. listing shows the platform at a higher price—$3,199 for white, black, and red and $3,269 for green, before destination and freight charges. That is a current listing, not the historical 2022 MSRP, so it should not be used to rewrite the model-year price. It does show that the motorcycle’s pricing changed after 2022.
Used 2022 TNT 135 prices
Used values depend heavily on mileage, condition, title status, location, modifications, and whether the motorcycle has been stored properly. An indexed Kelley Blue Book 2022 page showed a typical listing figure of $1,940 in good condition, while a dealer advertised a 2022 example with 5,394 miles for $2,495. Those are reference points, not a guaranteed national value or a promise that every bike should sell in that range.
When comparing listings, calculate the total purchase cost rather than focusing only on the sticker price. A low-priced bike may need tires, a battery, chain adjustment, fluids, fork-seal work, or registration corrections. Conversely, a higher-priced example with clean records and fresh wear items may be the better value.
What to inspect before buying a used one
- Confirm the VIN and title. Make sure the VIN on the frame matches the paperwork and check for liens, salvage branding, theft history, or registration problems.
- Start the engine cold. Ask the seller not to warm it beforehand. Watch for difficult starting, unstable idle, smoke, unusual rattling, or warning lights.
- Check the chain and sprockets. Look for excessive slack, rust, tight spots, hooked sprocket teeth, missing lubrication, or seized links.
- Inspect the tires. Confirm the correct sizes, examine tread and sidewalls, and check the date codes. A motorcycle that has been parked for long periods can have aged tires despite low mileage.
- Test the suspension. Look for oil around the fork seals, pitting on the fork tubes, damaged shock components, and abnormal knocking or stiffness.
- Operate both brakes. Check lever and pedal feel, rotor condition, pad thickness, and whether either wheel drags excessively.
- Test all electrical equipment. Verify the starter, charging system, headlight, indicators, brake-light switches, horn, instrument display, and fuel-injection behavior.
- Review maintenance evidence. Receipts are more useful than a verbal claim that the bike was serviced. Ask when the oil, filter, spark plugs, battery, chain, and tires were last replaced.
- Look for crash damage. Inspect the levers, bar ends, foot controls, engine cases, frame, fork alignment, wheels, and exhaust for evidence of a tip-over or collision.
Colors and photos
Manufacturer and dealer model pages preserve stock photography of the TNT 135. The 2022 U.S. listings identify black, red, and white versions. Benelli’s current TNT135 listing also displays green, along with white, black, and red.
Color availability can vary by dealer, shipment, and point in the model year. Stock photos should be labeled as manufacturer or dealer photography, and buyers should confirm the actual paint color and condition of the specific motorcycle. A listing photo is not proof that every color was available at every U.S. dealership during 2022.

Maintenance and parts considerations
Ownership uses familiar motorcycle service items: engine oil, an oil filter, spark plugs, a chain, brake components, a battery, and 12-inch tires. A fitment catalog identifies the NGK CR7HSA spark plug for the 2022 TNT135. Before ordering, confirm the plug marking against the owner’s manual and the plug currently installed on the motorcycle; fitment catalogs and seller listings can contain errors.
A 2022 TNT135 service document records 15W-50 four-stroke motorcycle oil and a Benelli TNT135 oil filter. That is evidence of one service practice, not a replacement for the owner’s manual or exact dealer guidance. Confirm the required oil specification, quantity, filter dimensions, and change procedure for the individual motorcycle before buying supplies.
Parts catalogs from major motorcycle retailers list TNT135-specific replacement parts and universal accessories. That does not guarantee identical inventory, delivery times, or long-term availability for every component. Before buying, especially if the motorcycle will be a primary commuter, ask a local Benelli/SSR dealer about routine service, parts ordering, warranty handling, and support for the model. Honda and Kawasaki mini-motos may have an advantage in local familiarity and parts ubiquity, although the right choice still depends on price, condition, and dealer access in the buyer’s area.
Safety and recall checks
The reviewed NHTSA search result did not expose a model-specific recall record for the 2022 Benelli TNT 135. That should not be interpreted as definitive proof that no recall, service campaign, or market-specific issue has ever existed. Recall information can depend on the exact VIN and can change over time.
Before purchasing or riding a used TNT 135, check the motorcycle by VIN through NHTSA and contact a Benelli/SSR dealer. Resolve any open recall or safety campaign before regular use. Also verify that the motorcycle has the equipment required in the jurisdiction where it will be registered.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Who should buy the 2022 Benelli TNT 135?
The TNT 135 makes sense for a buyer who wants:
- A small, visually distinctive manual motorcycle
- Low-speed urban transportation and recreational riding
- A low seat and manageable dimensions
- Fuel injection and a five-speed gearbox
- Inverted forks and disc brakes at both ends
- A low original purchase price or an inexpensive used mini-moto
It is a weaker match for someone who needs sustained freeway commuting, frequent passenger carrying, substantial cargo capacity, long-distance touring, or effortless high-speed passing. The motorcycle can be fun and practical within its design limits, but treating it like a full-size sportbike will expose those limits quickly.

Verdict
The 2022 Benelli TNT 135 is a fun, affordable urban mini-motorcycle rather than a highway-capable sportbike. Its strongest arguments are the 134.7cc fuel-injected engine, five-speed manual transmission, low seat, compact handling, inverted fork, dual disc brakes, and $2,999 original U.S. MSRP. Its compromises are equally clear: modest power, limited high-speed reserve, a small fuel tank, variable used-bike condition, and potentially less universal parts and dealer support than the best-known Japanese alternatives.
For city streets, short trips, beginner practice, and relaxed back-road riding, the TNT 135 offers more personality and motorcycle hardware than its price suggests. For a used purchase, condition and local support matter at least as much as the asking price.

Frequently Asked Questions
How fast is the 2022 Benelli TNT 135?
The 2022 Benelli TNT 135 has a claimed top speed of roughly 60–70 mph, depending on rider weight, wind, road grade, gearing, instrumentation, and market specification. Benelli’s international listing gives approximately 59 mph, while some owner and secondary reports are higher. It does not have much reserve for sustained freeway use.
How much did a 2022 Benelli TNT 135 cost?
The 2022 U.S. base MSRP was $2,999 before taxes, registration, freight, preparation, documentation, and other dealer charges. Used prices vary by condition and location; reviewed reference points included $1,940 in good-condition listing data and a $2,495 dealer example with 5,394 miles.
What engine is in the 2022 Benelli TNT 135?
The U.S.-specification bike uses a 134.7cc single-cylinder engine with electronic fuel injection, four valves, SOHC operation, double spark plugs, and oil cooling. Some international pages describe different cooling or output details, so buyers should use the specification for their market.
Is the Benelli TNT 135 suitable for shorter riders?
The seat height is 30.7 inches. That low seat, combined with the motorcycle’s compact dimensions, makes it approachable for many shorter or newer riders, although inseam, seat width, suspension sag, and footwear also affect reach to the ground.
What should I check before buying a used TNT 135?
Before buying, verify the VIN and title, cold-start the engine, inspect the chain, sprockets, tires, fork seals, brakes, battery, electrical equipment, and frame, and review maintenance records. Check the VIN through NHTSA and a Benelli/SSR dealer for any open safety campaign.
The Bottom Line
Bottom line: Buy the 2022 Benelli TNT 135 for inexpensive, engaging urban riding—not for sustained freeway travel. A clean, well-maintained example can be excellent mini-moto value, provided you verify the VIN, inspect wear items carefully, and confirm local parts and service support.
