Volkswagen listed both a six-speed manual and a seven-speed DSG automatic. Original model-year MSRP ranged from $27,595 to $37,095 before the separately listed $895 destination charge; those are historical new-car prices, not current used-car values.

These figures are from Volkswagen’s U.S. model-year brochure and order guide. Equipment and options vary by trim, so a specification should not be taken to mean every individual car has the same features.
How much did a 2019 Golf GTI cost new?
Volkswagen of America’s order guide, dated November 27, 2019, lists the following U.S. retail prices. The $895 destination charge was listed separately and was subject to change.

What’s different about the four trims?
S
The S was the entry trim. The late-2019 order guide lists driver assistance as a $450 option on the S; do not assume that a particular S has those features without checking its equipment.
Rabbit Edition
The limited-edition Rabbit was positioned between S and SE and added heritage-themed details. Volkswagen’s model-year release lists gloss-black 18-inch wheels, a black rear spoiler and mirror caps, LED headlights with adaptive front lighting, Rabbit seat tags, red-stitched floor mats, keyless access and driver-assistance features.

SE
The SE added leather seating as standard. Volkswagen described an optional Experience Package that included Fender premium audio and DCC adaptive chassis control; check the specific car’s original equipment to see whether it was fitted.
Autobahn
The Autobahn sat at the top of the listed U.S. trim range. Volkswagen’s model-year release says Fender premium audio and DCC adaptive chassis control were standard on this trim. Driver assistance was also standard on the SE and Autobahn according to the late-2019 order guide.

Did the 2019 GTI come with a manual?
Yes. Volkswagen listed a six-speed manual across all four trims, alongside a seven-speed DSG automatic with Tiptronic. The DSG versions cost $1,100 more than their same-trim manual counterparts in the order guide.
Which driver-assistance features were available?
Volkswagen’s brochure trim grid shows Front Assist, pedestrian monitoring, Blind Spot Monitor and Rear Traffic Alert as available with the Driver Assistance package. It also marks adaptive cruise control and other assistance features as unavailable on lower trims in that grid. Availability depended on trim and options, so verify a specific vehicle rather than assuming every 2019 GTI includes the same safety equipment.

Photos and visual details
Volkswagen’s brochure depicts a red Autobahn exterior and includes interior and cockpit views. Treat a photo as an illustration of the trim and color shown, not as proof that every GTI had the pictured equipment. The order guide includes trim imagery and references color availability; check the original listing or vehicle documentation when identifying a particular car.
Where the 2019 model fits in Golf GTI history
The 2019 GTI belongs to the Golf VII generation. Volkswagen’s Golf VII archive describes a 2017 update that brought revised exterior lighting and bumpers and increased output for the basic GTI in its market context. The archive also notes that the series ended with the GTI TCR in 2019. That special TCR is generation-level context, not one of the four U.S. trims in Volkswagen of America’s order guide.

- Confirm the trim and transmission from the car’s records or original equipment information.
- Check whether driver-assistance equipment, Fender audio or DCC was included or added through a package.
- Compare mileage, condition, title and accident history, and service records.
- Use current local listings to assess asking prices; the model-year MSRP table is not a current valuation.
