What distinguishes the V7 III Carbon?
Piaggio presented the Carbon as a limited, numbered version of the V7 III. Its identifying details include matte-black styling, carbon-fibre fenders and side panels, red accents on the front brake caliper and cylinder-head covers, and anodized-black details. The water-repellent Alcantara saddle has red stitching, while the numbered plate is mounted on the handlebar riser. Piaggio described a production run of 1,921 units, with the number referring to the year Moto Guzzi was founded. Piaggio’s 2018 release and its company information are the basis for those edition details and the stated production figure.
That makes the Carbon’s clearest distinction its special-edition styling and materials. Do not assume that every mechanical component or specification is unique to the Carbon: the available model-specific evidence here establishes its trim details, not a complete technical comparison with other V7 III versions.
When was it launched?
Piaggio’s release dated February 6, 2018 said the motorcycle was available through Moto Guzzi dealers. A separate production announcement dated January 23, 2018 said production had begun at Mandello del Lario and that the first dealer units were expected at the end of January. Piaggio positioned the V7 III range as agile and easy to ride, including for city use. That is the manufacturer’s description, not an independent riding assessment.
What should you check on a used Carbon?
Because the Carbon’s most clearly documented differences are visible trim and materials, inspect the individual bike rather than relying on its advertised name alone. Compare the finish, carbon-fibre pieces, red details, saddle and numbered plate with the edition description, and ask for service records. Condition and completeness can vary from one used example to another.

- Review the motorcycle’s maintenance and repair history, along with the condition of wear items and any installed accessories.
- For comparisons with another V7 III edition, weigh edition-specific materials and finish, the equipment actually included, parts availability in your region, accessory compatibility and the total cost implied by that bike’s records and wear.

The 2019 USA V7 III use-and-maintenance manual advises regular maintenance and the use of original Moto Guzzi spare parts. It also says mechanics in the official service network have technical training and tools intended for correct maintenance and repair. The manual is for the V7 III family and the USA market, so confirm the correct manual and service schedule for the motorcycle’s actual market and version. It notes that not every version shown is available in every country and directs owners to check availability with the official sales network.
