The 2015 Cadillac ATS-V.R was a purpose-built GT3 race car, not a road-going ATS-V with a few track upgrades. Cadillac announced it in November 2014 for competition beginning in 2015, with a race-developed twin-turbo V-6, rear-mounted sequential transaxle, competition chassis equipment and aerodynamic bodywork.
What was the 2015 Cadillac ATS-V.R?
The ATS-V.R was Cadillac Racing’s GT3-specification coupe, introduced at Circuit of the Americas on November 14, 2014. Cadillac presented it as the racing counterpart to the then-upcoming ATS-V Coupe, which it identified as a 2016 model. The ATS-V.R was built to compete under FIA GT3 specifications; it was not the production ATS-V and was not presented as a street car. How did its race specification differ from the road-going ATS-V?
The connection was chiefly the ATS-V Coupe’s basic identity and body shape. The V.R’s engine designation, transmission layout, safety structure, suspension, brakes, tires and aero were race-car equipment; they should not be read as specifications or options for the production ATS-V.

The 600-hp figure is Cadillac’s stated maximum for the ATS-V.R, not a rating for the road car. The rear transaxle, paddle-shift sequential gearbox and race tire sizes likewise belong to the competition specification. Period coverage by MotorSport.com describes aero elements including a front splitter, dive planes, undertray and rear diffuser.

What series did the ATS-V.R race in?
Cadillac’s racing-history account says the ATS-V.R debuted in 2014 and competed through 2017 in Pirelli World Challenge GT and SprintX GT competition. The 2014 debut refers to the car’s introduction; Cadillac said it was set to compete in the 2015 season. The source does not provide a race-by-race results record or a verified ATS-V.R win total.

Cadillac’s November 2014 announcement cited 26 wins, 91 podium finishes and 22 pole positions for its CTS-V sedan and coupe racing program since 2004. Those figures describe the earlier program, not the ATS-V.R, which had not yet begun its stated 2015 competition campaign. The announcement also quotes Cadillac Racing driver Andy Pilgrim describing the sound and torque as his personal impressions, not measured performance data.
