Honda’s 2013 manual covers multiple Shadow variants, so use the VT750C2B entries for Phantom-specific details.
Identify the right manual and model
Honda’s 2013 owner’s manual is a combined manual for Shadow Spirit and Shadow Phantom models. The Phantom-specific code is VT750C2B; check that code when using the manual’s maintenance tables or verifying fitment. The official 2013 Shadow Spirit and Shadow Phantom owner’s manual is the direct reference for the specifications below.
Honda’s Motopub publication finder lets owners search for publications by product model name and, when available, model year. Honda also published a later specification release using VT750C2B for the 2023 Phantom; that later-year information should not be substituted for the 2013 manual’s specifications.
What oil does the 2013 Shadow Phantom take?
Honda specifies SAE 10W-30 engine oil with an API Service Classification of SG or higher and JASO T 903 standard MA. Do not use oil labeled energy conserving or resource conserving. Honda identifies Pro Honda GN4 4-stroke oil in the United States and Canada, Honda 4-stroke oil, or an equivalent motorcycle oil that meets the full specification.

Oil capacity depends on the service

These are distinct service quantities, not interchangeable fill targets. Follow the manual’s oil-level checking procedure after filling rather than assuming the specified quantity alone establishes the final level.
Oil filter and service caution
Honda instructs owners to “Use a new Honda Genuine oil filter or equivalent specified for your model.” An incorrect filter can seriously damage the engine. The manual says oil-and-filter replacement requires special tools and recommends having a dealer perform the service; confirm exact VT750C2B fitment before choosing an equivalent filter.

What are the tire sizes and pressures?
The VT750C2B tire sizes in the 2013 manual are:
- Front: 120/90-17M/C 64S
- Rear: 160/80-15M/C 74S
For solo riding, Honda lists 29 psi front and rear. The manual specifies a higher rear pressure for certain additional-load conditions. Use the manual’s load-specific pressure table and the motorcycle’s labels for your actual load; do not apply the solo figure to every riding condition.

Final-drive oil
Honda specifies SAE 80 hypoid gear oil for the final drive. The quantity after draining is 160 cm³.

Spark plugs
The standard spark plugs listed are NGK DPR7EA-9 or Denso X22EPR-U9. Honda lists different plugs for high-speed riding, so consult the manual if that describes your use rather than assuming the standard plugs apply in all conditions.

How to use these specifications when buying parts or fluids
- Match the vehicle to the 2013 Phantom’s model code, VT750C2B, not merely to a general Shadow listing.
- For engine oil, verify the viscosity, API classification, JASO rating, and the manual’s exclusions together.
- For tires, match both the size and the listed load/speed designation, then follow pressure guidance for the riding load.
- For an oil filter or other replacement part, confirm that the maker specifies it for this model; appearance alone does not establish fitment.
