Confirm your motorcycle’s exact model code and market before relying on specifications or ordering parts. The owner’s manual also cautions that maintenance intervals may need shortening for riding conditions and that work beyond your tools or experience belongs with a qualified technician.
What is the 2007 Yamaha YZF-R6S?
It is a Yamaha YZF-R6S motorcycle from model year 2007. Yamaha’s U.S. owner’s manual is titled for the YZFR6SX(C) and carries an April 2007 first-edition date. A service-manual preview identifies two U.S. variants: 5SLR for the United States except California and 5SLS for California. The parts fiche uses separate catalog labels, “YZFR6SW” and “R6S CA – YZFR6SWC.” These designations come from different documents and catalog contexts; do not assume they are interchangeable. Check the model identification on the motorcycle and its market before using service information or selecting components. Yamaha R6S owner’s manual · 2007 YZF-R6S service-manual preview

What maintenance does a 2007 Yamaha R6S need?
Use the periodic schedule in the owner’s manual as a starting point, not a universal interval: Yamaha says weather, terrain, geographical location, and individual use may require shorter intervals. The schedule includes engine-oil changes and replacement of the engine-oil-filter cartridge. Use a filter confirmed for the motorcycle’s exact year and submodel; the manual does not identify a brand or part number in the cited maintenance information.
Air-filter care
The manual describes the air-filter element as disposable, oil-coated paper and says not to clean it with compressed air. It also calls for more frequent replacement in unusually wet or dusty conditions. Follow the manual’s procedure for inspection and replacement rather than trying to clean the element. When to use a technician
The included tool kit is not sufficient for every maintenance job; some work requires additional equipment, such as a torque wrench. Yamaha advises owners without the necessary tools or experience to have the work performed by a dealer. A Yamaha service-manual notice reproduced in the preview warns that repair work attempted without mechanical knowledge can make the motorcycle unsafe. A model-specific parts fiche can help you browse assemblies such as the engine, brakes, bodywork, suspension, and wheels. The RevZilla/Montgomeryville Cycle Center fiche separates California and non-California catalog entries, making it a useful reference for checking the correct model listing: 2007 Yamaha R6S OEM parts finder and fiche.

- Makes press fit master link side plate installation simple and accurate
- Fits most 520 and 530, standard, O-ring, and X-ring chains
- Compact design is perfect for the toolbox or fanny pack
- Allen wrench included
- Also recommended: Tusk Heavy Duty Chain Breaker
Before buying a replacement part, compare the motorcycle’s identification and market with the fiche’s model designation, then confirm the listed part number and fitment. Cosmetic similarity to another R6 or R6S does not establish compatibility. For used components, also assess their condition and service history; neither the fiche nor the manual can determine the condition of a particular used part.

What to verify before servicing or ordering
- Identify the motorcycle’s actual model code and whether it is the California or non-California variant.
- Use the owner’s manual and service information for that variant rather than assuming specifications from a different YZF-R6 apply.
- For consumables such as an oil filter cartridge, verify model-year and submodel fitment before purchase.
- Check the bike’s own tire-pressure label before inflating tires; the service-preview figure is not a substitute for that label.
- Use a qualified technician when a job requires tools or experience you do not have.
