The 2006 Honda CBR600F4i is a fuel-injected 599 cc sport motorcycle, but the best source for its exact specifications and maintenance requirements is the official 2006 owner’s manual for the bike’s market. Use that manual for operation and routine care; get the Honda Genuine service manual for detailed repairs; check recalls by VIN; and confirm parts against the motorcycle’s model code, market and VIN before ordering.
What is the 2006 Honda CBR600F4i?
The CBR600F4i is Honda’s 600-class sport motorcycle. Honda’s launch announcement describes the F4i as a liquid-cooled, four-stroke DOHC inline-four with PGM-FI electronic fuel injection and H·I·S·S ignition security. PGM-FI is Honda’s fuel-injection system; H·I·S·S uses communication between a chip in the original key and the engine control unit. Those descriptions establish the model’s design, not the present condition or operation of any particular motorcycle. Honda’s 2001 launch announcement gives the system details and Japanese-market specifications.
That same 2001 Japanese specification table lists a 599 cc displacement, 51 kW (69 PS) at 10,500 rpm maximum output, 52 N·m at 7,500 rpm maximum torque, an 18 L tank and six-speed transmission. It lists 120/70 ZR17 front and 180/55 ZR17 rear tires. These are Honda’s figures for the Japanese launch specification; they should not be treated as definitive specifications for every 2006 market. Check the documentation for the specific motorcycle before using a number for service, registration or parts selection.
Which manual should you use?
| Manual | Best for | Coverage and format |
|---|---|---|
| 2006 owner’s manual | Safe operation, routine inspections and maintenance, tire information and troubleshooting | Honda’s official manual for the 2006 CBR600F4i; available as a PDF from Honda’s OWNERLINK document system |
| Honda Genuine service manual, part 61MBW55 | Detailed service and repair procedures, inspection, adjustment and troubleshooting | Helm lists a physical paper manual covering 2005–2006 CBR600F4i models; check the Helm listing for current stock |
The owner’s manual is the starting point for normal use and routine care. Honda says some maintenance is within reach of owners with basic mechanical skills and the supplied tools, while more difficult work that needs special tools is best left to professionals. It also says wheel removal should normally be handled by a Honda technician or another qualified mechanic. Follow the manual’s procedure and safety guidance for the specific job.

For detailed repair work, the 2005–2006 service manual is a different resource from the owner’s manual. Helm describes it as containing model-specific service data, tools, procedures, inspection, troubleshooting, repair and adjustment information. Its listing does not establish that it covers other years or every market variation. The 2006 owner’s manual puts the maintenance principle plainly: “Always follow the inspection and maintenance recommendations and schedules in this owner’s manual.”
How do you check recalls on a 2006 CBR600F4i?
- Find the motorcycle’s VIN, the vehicle identification number, and enter it in Honda Powersports’ recall lookup. Honda recommends an individual VIN/HIN search to check for recalls that remain open for a specific vehicle.
- If you search by model or year instead, treat the result as information about a potentially affected population, not proof that your motorcycle is affected or has been repaired.
- Because Honda’s online lookup covers the most recent 15 years, an empty result for a 2006 motorcycle does not establish that it has no recalls. Contact Honda Powersports Customer Relations or a Honda dealer for older recall information.
A recall search can identify open recall information; it cannot establish an individual motorcycle’s status here without its VIN. If Honda or a dealer identifies an open recall, ask them to confirm the remedy and whether the repair is recorded as complete.

What tires and replacement parts fit?
Use the 2006 owner’s manual and the motorcycle’s tire sidewall or other applicable service documentation to confirm tire size, pressure and replacement requirements. The 120/70 ZR17 front and 180/55 ZR17 rear sizes in Honda’s 2001 Japanese launch table are useful historical specifications, not a substitute for checking the exact bike’s market-specific documentation. Tire fitment affects safety and handling; do not change sizes based on an assumed upgrade.
For components, the 2006 parts catalogue identifies model code CBR600F46 and provides diagrams for assemblies including the oil filter and oil pump, air filter, battery, brakes, wheels, fairings and suspension. Use the 2006 CBR600F4i parts diagrams to identify the relevant assembly and part number, then verify compatibility for the motorcycle’s market and VIN with the seller or a Honda parts source. A catalogue entry does not guarantee a part is currently in stock.

What to confirm before buying or maintaining one
For a prospective buyer, the documentation and identifiers answer different questions: the owner’s manual provides operating and routine-maintenance guidance, the service manual supports detailed repairs, the VIN enables an individual recall check, and the parts catalogue helps identify components. Confirm the bike’s VIN and market-specific paperwork, review maintenance records, and have a qualified mechanic assess safety-critical systems if their condition is uncertain. Published launch specifications alone cannot verify a used motorcycle’s equipment, condition or repair history.
