Several used V8 sedans remain attainable, but “affordable” depends on the car’s condition, local asking prices and the money needed after purchase. The ten candidates below range from older full-size cruisers to scarcer performance sedans; they are a practical shortlist, not a definitive price ranking. Current price evidence is strongest for the Crown Victoria, Charger R/T, Chrysler 300C and Hyundai Genesis 4.6. A low asking price alone does not make any of them a bargain.

What “affordable” means for a used V8 sedan

Prices below come from individual listings or editorial buying guides, not a market-wide study of completed sales. Treat guide ranges as estimates and listing prices as snapshots; neither guarantees what a particular car should cost in your area. For example, Vehicle Pick’s 2026 guide estimates $2,500–$7,000 for Crown Victorias, while Cars.com showed two individual listings on October 4, 2026: a 2008 Police Interceptor at $3,000 and a 2005 Base at $7,990. The latter listing showed 102,577 miles. The former displayed one mile, a figure that should not be treated as the car’s actual lifetime mileage without confirming the listing details. Vehicle Pick’s 2026 guide and Cars.com’s Crown Victoria listings provide the underlying snapshots.

Purchase price is only the entry cost. Fuel, deferred maintenance, tires, brakes, age-related repairs and insurance can change the ownership calculation. A well-documented, sound car at a higher price can be a better buy than a cheaper example with rust or neglected upkeep. Compare each car’s condition and history with its asking price rather than choosing by badge or odometer alone.

Ten V8 sedan candidates

1. Ford Crown Victoria

The Crown Victoria is a full-size, rear-wheel-drive sedan with a 4.6-liter V8. Its appeal is straightforward: the listings and 2026 guide offer some of the clearest low-entry-price evidence among these candidates. The live Cars.com examples cited above vary substantially in asking price and displayed mileage, so inspect the specific car and verify its history. Police Interceptor versions may have fleet service; assess wear and maintenance rather than assuming a low asking price means low ownership cost.

  • Choose classic kidney-bean-style slotted mags with separate three-bar spinners or wire-spoke wheels, each with a set of big-and-little tires.
  • Molded in white and clear with chrome plated parts and soft black tires. Paint and glue required(not included).

2. Mercury Grand Marquis

The closely related Grand Marquis is another full-size V8 option for shoppers who prioritize a roomy, comfort-oriented sedan. It appears in consumer discussion and broad affordable-sedan guides, but the available evidence does not establish a current price range. Check local listings and the particular car’s maintenance, rust and condition before comparing it with a Crown Victoria.

3. Lincoln Town Car

The Town Car offers a more upmarket take on the full-size 4.6-liter V8 sedan. It is identified as a used under-$25,000 candidate in AOL Canada’s 2026 roundup, but that does not establish that every example is inexpensive or in good condition. Verify local prices and be prepared to assess an older luxury car on its own maintenance history. AOL Canada’s 2026 V8 sedan roundup discusses the model.

  • Display-Worthy Build – Finished model measures 8 inches long; comes in classic AMT packaging with 109 parts to bring it to life.

4. Dodge Charger R/T

The Charger R/T pairs a 5.7-liter Hemi V8 with a more performance-oriented sedan format than the older full-size cruisers. Vehicle Pick’s 2026 guide estimates $3,000–$7,800 for examples, but that is guide pricing, not a verified typical sale price. The guide also notes that maintenance, rust, tires and interior wear can make apparently similar Chargers differ by thousands of dollars. See the guide’s Charger discussion and estimates.

5. Chrysler 300C

The Hemi-powered 300C is a large, comfort-oriented alternative to the Charger. Vehicle Pick’s 2026 guide estimates $3,500–$8,000, again as an editorial estimate rather than a market-wide transaction range. Compare the individual car’s service records, condition and asking price; the model’s presence on a budget list is not a substitute for an inspection.

6. Hyundai Genesis 4.6

The Genesis 4.6 is the shortlist’s older luxury-oriented option, with strong equipment and performance for the money according to Vehicle Pick’s 2026 guide. That guide estimates $5,500–$9,500 for examples. Those figures are not a promise of current local pricing, and the condition of an older luxury car matters: review service documentation and budget for the upkeep the specific example may need.

7. Pontiac G8 GT and GXP

Both the G8 GT and GXP are V8 versions identified in AOL Canada’s 2026 roundup. The article puts good or mint examples around $20,000 on average; this is its stated figure, not a live quote or transaction-dataset result. That makes the G8 a scarcer, potentially pricier choice rather than an automatic bargain. AOL Canada’s article provides that price context.

  • Die Cast Metal Body

8. Chevrolet Caprice PPV

The Caprice PPV is a police-package V8 sedan mentioned in consumer discussions, but the available evidence does not establish broad current civilian inventory or a dependable price range. Former fleet use is an important part of the individual car’s history to investigate. Inspect the car for wear and modifications, and confirm title and maintenance records rather than extrapolating a price from another sedan.

9. Chevrolet SS

The Chevrolet SS is a rear-wheel-drive V8 sedan related in concept to the G8, and it appears in AOL Canada’s under-$25,000 roundup. No current median asking price is established here, so treat it as a stretch candidate whose cost may exceed the less expensive options. Confirm local availability and price before making it a budget target.

10. Mercury Marauder

The Marauder appears in Yahoo Autos’ May 28, 2026 roundup of used V8 cars, but detailed facts and a verified price range are not established by the available material. Scarcity and the condition of an individual car can make its price variable; check current listings rather than relying on an assumed bargain price. Yahoo Autos’ 2026 roundup names the model.

How to choose between them

Start with how you will use the car. A full-size Crown Victoria, Grand Marquis or Town Car may suit a buyer seeking a roomy cruiser; the Charger R/T, 300C, Genesis 4.6, G8, SS and Marauder offer different blends of comfort, performance and rarity. The Caprice PPV deserves particular attention to fleet history. Do not treat all ten as interchangeable just because they have V8 engines.

  • Compare condition with price: review mileage alongside body and interior wear, rust, tires and signs of deferred repairs. Vehicle Pick notes that these factors can materially separate similar-looking Chargers.
  • Ask for documentation: service records provide evidence of care that an odometer reading by itself cannot. Verify vehicle history and title, and ask about fleet use or modifications where relevant.
  • Inspect for rust and leaks: an underside and structural inspection is especially important on an older or former fleet vehicle. Vehicle Pick’s buying advice calls for checking rust and leaks as part of a pre-purchase inspection. Vehicle Pick’s inspection advice covers these checks.
  • Account for running costs: V8 fuel use can materially affect the total cost of ownership. The available guide gives approximate fuel-economy figures for only some models; confirm the relevant official EPA record for the exact year and trim before relying on a number.
  • Set aside money beyond the asking price: budget for inspection findings and likely wear items, rather than assuming a low purchase price covers the first round of upkeep.

Inspect before you buy

Arrange an independent pre-purchase inspection by a mechanic. The inspection should include the underside, body structure, rust and leaks, as well as a scan of stored fault codes. A compatible automotive OBD-II code reader can retrieve codes and help identify issues to investigate, but capability varies by vehicle and tool; a scan is not a diagnosis and cannot replace a mechanic’s inspection.

  1. Before visiting: request the VIN, title status and available service records. Review vehicle history and ask whether the car had fleet use or modifications.
  2. At the car: compare the condition with the listing and odometer, and look for visible rust, leaks and wear. Do not treat a displayed mileage figure as proof of a car’s full history.
  3. Before committing: have an independent mechanic inspect the car, including its underside, and scan for stored fault codes. Use any scan results as one input to the mechanic’s assessment, not as a pass/fail verdict.
  4. Make the decision: weigh inspection findings, documentation and anticipated upkeep against the asking price. Walk away if the seller will not allow a reasonable inspection or the car’s condition cannot be verified.
