No used SUV is guaranteed to “run forever,” but the 2026 iSeeCars longevity study offers a concrete way to compare candidates: its estimated likelihood that a model reaches 250,000 miles. The Toyota Sequoia and Toyota 4Runner lead the SUVs listed, with the Lexus RX Hybrid and GX, Toyota and Honda models, and Acura MDX also making the top 10. These are population-level estimates—not predictions for any one vehicle.
How to read the 250,000-mile estimates
iSeeCars estimates that 4.8% of SUVs reach 250,000 miles, compared with 5.4% of vehicles overall in its 2026 study. Even the leading SUV’s result is a probability, not a promise: the estimate describes a model population and cannot certify a particular used SUV’s maintenance history, present condition, or future lifespan. The ranking is useful for identifying models with stronger evidence of very high mileage. It does not by itself say which model year to buy or establish fuel costs, repair costs, utility, safety, or comfort.

The following figures are iSeeCars’ 2026 estimates of each model’s likelihood of reaching 250,000 miles. They are not guarantees for an individual used vehicle.

What the rankings say about the leading candidates
Toyota Sequoia and 4Runner
The Sequoia ranks first in the 250,000-mile estimates, followed by the 4Runner. In a separate 2026 iSeeCars SUV reliability ranking, the 4Runner is the leading midsize SUV, with an 8.1 rating. Lexus RX Hybrid, Lexus GX and Toyota Highlander Hybrid
These three round out the top five in the longevity estimates. Their placement shows that the 2026 study includes both hybrid and non-hybrid SUVs among its leading candidates; it does not establish that one powertrain will cost less to own or suit a particular buyer better.
Honda HR-V, Pilot and CR-V
The HR-V, Pilot and CR-V appear in the top 10 longevity estimates. In the separate 2026 reliability ranking, the HR-V leads the subcompact SUV segment with an 8.4 rating, and the CR-V leads the small/compact SUV segment with an 8.0 rating. The MDX and Highlander also appear above the SUV average in the 250,000-mile study. The listed evidence does not establish model-year-specific recommendations or compare their ownership costs, practicality, or driving characteristics.
How to use the rankings when shopping
- Start with your needs. Narrow the candidates by the size, seating, cargo capacity, driving use, and budget you need. The longevity estimates do not compare those attributes.
- Use the figures as a model-level screening tool. The 250,000-mile estimates and separate segment reliability ratings can help decide which models merit consideration; neither one assesses a particular listing.
- Evaluate the individual vehicle. Review its service records, mileage, rust and accident history, and have its current condition assessed. A high-ranking model can still be a poor used-car purchase if its history or condition is concerning.
- Compare the actual vehicles and records. Choose based on the condition and documented history of the specific SUV, as well as how it fits your needs—not on rank alone.
Other mileage estimates are not the same measure
Separate iSeeCars model pages estimate a 58.8% chance that a Toyota 4Runner reaches 200,000 miles and an average lifespan of 217,484 miles. For the Toyota Highlander, the corresponding estimates are 39.5% and 184,014 miles. These are survival-model estimates from the model pages, not the 2026 study’s chances of reaching 250,000 miles; do not compare the figures as if they were the same threshold or measure.
