The 2025 Kawasaki Versys 1100 is more than a name change: Kawasaki enlarged its inline-four from 1,043 cc to 1,099 cc and revised the engine tuning, quick shifter and top two gear ratios. The details depend on market and trim. Kawasaki Europe lists Standard, S and SE versions, while the U.S. specifications below refer specifically to the Versys 1100 SE LT ABS.
1. The engine is larger, with a longer stroke
Kawasaki increased displacement from 1,043 cc to 1,099 cc for 2025. The U.S. SE LT ABS release specifies a 77.0 x 59.0 mm bore and stroke; Kawasaki attributes the increase to a 3 mm longer stroke. That is a meaningful mechanical update, not merely a rounded-up model name. Kawasaki Europe’s 2024 announcement and the U.S. release describe the new engine.
2. The power claim depends on the unit and market
Kawasaki Europe states peak output of 135 PS, up from 120 PS on the previous model. Kawasaki’s U.S. announcement describes the increase as 13 peak horsepower. PS and U.S. hp are different units, so those claims should not be treated as interchangeable or converted into one blended figure. Both are manufacturer specifications, not independent dynamometer measurements.
3. Engine revisions target low- and midrange response
Kawasaki says the longer center intake funnels, revised intake ports and cam profiles, ECU changes and increased flywheel mass are intended to improve low-to-midrange response and rideability. These are the manufacturer’s stated aims; they do not establish how the bike performs in an independent road test.

4. The quick shifter is specified to work from lower rpm
Kawasaki lowered the stated minimum operating point for its KQS quick shifter from 2,500 rpm to 1,500 rpm. That should make it available during slower-speed riding and lower-rev shifts more often. It is a change to the claimed operating threshold, not a quantified acceleration or shift-speed result.
5. Fifth and sixth gears are revised for touring
Kawasaki says it revised the ratios in fifth and sixth gear. The company describes the changes as improving the feel of fifth and reducing engine speed in sixth during highway cruising. The stated intent suits a road-focused touring motorcycle, though no fuel-economy improvement or measured cruising-speed result is established by these specifications.

6. Trim names and equipment vary by region
Kawasaki Europe lists Standard, S and SE versions, as well as Edition machines and luggage options. The detailed U.S. announcement covers the SE LT ABS, so its suspension, luggage, brakes and other equipment should not be assumed to come on every Versys 1100. Compare the official specification for the exact market and trim before treating equipment as standard.
7. The U.S. SE LT ABS gets electronically controlled suspension
For the U.S. SE LT ABS, Kawasaki lists a 43 mm Showa fork and Showa BFRC Lite rear shock with KECS electronic suspension control. The system has multiple damping modes and electronic rear preload adjustment. These details describe that trim, not the full international range.

8. Its standard luggage is useful, but capacity has limits
Kawasaki lists KQR hard saddlebags as standard on the U.S. SE LT ABS. Each case has 28 liters of capacity and a maximum storage weight of 11 lb, according to the manufacturer. The bike can accommodate an accessory top case, but the release does not identify a specific compatible case; check the rack, model year, trim and market before purchasing one. The adjustable windscreen and upright ergonomics are also part of Kawasaki’s U.S. description of this touring-oriented trim.
9. The SE LT ABS combines touring features with rider aids
The U.S. SE LT ABS specifications list KTRC traction control, KECS, KIBS braking control, KCMF, KQS, cruise control, power modes and IMU-informed chassis awareness. Kawasaki also specifies dual 310 mm front discs and a 260 mm rear disc, increased from 250 mm on the prior model. These are specifications for the named U.S. trim; confirm equipment for other versions and regions.

10. Treat the launch price as historical
Kawasaki announced a U.S. MSRP of $19,499 for the SE LT ABS in October 2024 and said it would be available in Winter 2025. That is the original launch announcement, not a current dealer quote. Pricing, stock and availability can change, so check with a local Kawasaki dealer. The same U.S. release gives a 485 lb payload capacity, 5.9 inches of front and rear suspension travel, 20.8 L fuel capacity and a curb weight figure in its specifications; these figures apply to the SE LT ABS and should not be generalized to other trims.
For European versions, Kawasaki’s 2025 brochure search listing gives weights of 255–257 kg for the S and 259 kg for the SE. Those are variant-specific European figures and are not directly comparable to a U.S. curb-weight figure without aligned weight definitions and equipment.
