The SUVs that make the most of turbocharging are not all the most powerful ones. A high-output performance model uses boost for speed; a family SUV may use it to deliver useful torque from a smaller engine; and a diesel or hybrid can prioritize towing or low-speed pull. The ten models below span those jobs, with one important distinction: some figures are engine-only ratings, while others include an electric motor.
How to compare turbocharged SUV power
A turbocharger uses exhaust energy to spin a turbine connected to a compressor, which pressurizes incoming air. Ford explains that mechanism in its EcoBoost overview; EcoBoost is Ford’s package, not a description of every turbo engine. Turbocharging can help a smaller-displacement engine deliver stronger performance, but it does not guarantee better fuel economy in every SUV or driving condition.
Horsepower figures also need an output-basis label. Engine horsepower describes the combustion engine alone; a hybrid system figure combines the engine and electric motor as rated by the manufacturer. Those values are not interchangeable. The performance-model comparison below is a dated third-party snapshot of manufacturer specifications, not a road test or a controlled comparison; CarCody says its figures were checked August 13, 2026, and that it primarily uses current U.S. specifications while supplementing with global data where needed. See CarCody’s output comparison for its stated methodology.
Ten high-output turbocharged SUV choices
The first three entries are plug-in hybrid system ratings. The remaining figures are combustion-engine ratings, with the manufacturer’s power unit retained where stated. The list is useful for identifying high-output options, not for declaring a universal winner.

| Aston Martin DBX S | 727 PS | Engine output, as specified by Aston Martin | All-alloy 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8. The comparison lists 717 hp, but the maker’s page states 727 PS; these units should not be silently conflated. Aston Martin specifications. |

Except for the cited Porsche details and Aston Martin’s stated PS rating, the table’s comparison figures are from CarCody’s August 13, 2026 snapshot. Confirm the exact model year, trim, market and output convention when shopping; the roster mixes U.S. and global specifications.
Performance SUVs: power is only part of the package
Porsche Cayenne Turbo E-Hybrid
The Cayenne Turbo E-Hybrid makes the clearest case for separating engine output from system output. Porsche lists 729 hp combined, 700 lb-ft maximum torque, and 0–60 mph in 3.5 seconds when equipped with Sport Chrono on its 2027 U.S. model page. That acceleration figure is tied to the specified package and should not be treated as a universal result for every configuration.

Porsche Cayenne Turbo GT
The Turbo GT illustrates why regional specification matters. Porsche Newsroom’s 2025 page describes a UAE-context press-car specification with a four-liter twin-turbo V8 rated at 659 PS and 850 Nm, 0–100 km/h in 3.3 seconds, and a 305 km/h top speed. Porsche cautions that equipment and specifications vary by region; its Nürburgring SUV-record statement is the manufacturer’s claim, not an independent comparison here. Porsche Newsroom regional details.
Aston Martin DBX S
Aston Martin describes the DBX S as a five-door, 2+3-seat SUV with an all-alloy 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 rated at 727 PS. That is the maker’s unit and figure; comparing it directly with hp ratings without identifying the unit would blur the distinction. The five-seat layout also gives it a different practical brief from a three-row family SUV.

Which kind of turbo SUV fits your priorities?
- For headline acceleration and output: compare performance trims such as the Cayenne Turbo E-Hybrid, but distinguish combined system ratings from engine-only figures and check the package tied to any acceleration claim.
- For heavy-load torque: look beyond horsepower. The Tahoe Duramax’s listed 495 lb-ft and the 4Runner i-FORCE MAX’s 465 lb-ft are relevant examples, but they belong to different vehicle types and powertrain configurations.
- For family capacity: seating and traction may outweigh a top-ten output rank. The MDX Type S pairs a turbo V6 with three rows and standard SH-AWD; the Atlas and Q7 provide different engine and towing choices.
- For off-road-oriented use: the 4Runner’s grade-specific hybrid availability is important to verify. A power rating alone does not establish trail capability or suitability for a particular route.
- For an apples-to-apples purchase comparison: match model year, market, trim, engine, drivetrain and output basis, then verify towing limits for the exact equipment and load.
What to verify before choosing
- Confirm the exact engine and trim on the manufacturer’s page or vehicle window sticker; model-line names can cover multiple powertrains.
- Check whether the published horsepower is engine-only or combined hybrid-system output, and keep the maker’s unit such as hp, bhp or PS.
- For towing, confirm the rating for the selected drivetrain and required tow equipment, then account for passengers, cargo and vehicle load.
- Check local-market availability, fuel recommendation and model-year specification before comparing vehicles advertised in different regions.
