Supermotos stand out through upright proportions, 17-inch street wheels, bold graphics, or an unusual mix of dirt-bike shape and road-bike intent. These ten picks range from current street-focused factory models to older and competition-oriented machines; they are not a performance ranking, and availability and road legality vary by country and model year.
Current street-focused factory models
The first six are supported by manufacturer model pages, though their listed model years differ. A manufacturer’s specifications and marketing describe its own product; they are not independent performance tests.

1. 2026 KTM 690 SMC R
KTM presents the 690 SMC R as a street-focused supermoto, emphasizing agility, power, and rider aids. Its tall, lean stance and unmistakable supermoto proportions make it an easy bike to notice. KTM’s claims are manufacturer positioning, not independent test findings. The official international page lists the 2026 model; check local availability and registration rules. KTM 690 SMC R

The 701 pairs a large-single format with Husqvarna’s restrained, angular styling, giving it a cleaner visual contrast to more graphic-heavy rivals. Husqvarna’s U.S. 2026 page lists a base MSRP of $13,399 plus $800 freight; that is not an out-the-door price and does not establish pricing elsewhere. The page describes a revised LC4 engine, rider aids, optional Quickshifter+, and connection to the Ride Husqvarna app. It also states a 15,000 km oil-change interval versus 10,000 km for the outgoing model; consult the owner manual for the specific market and model before relying on a service interval. 3. 2024 GASGAS SM 700
GASGAS gives its supermoto a more playful, vivid look, backed by lively street-oriented positioning on its official page. That visual character earns it a place here, but the page identifies the motorcycle as a 2024 model; it does not confirm 2026 availability. Treat it as a model to investigate by year and market, not as a guaranteed new-bike option. GASGAS SM 700
4. Ducati Hypermotard 698 Mono
Ducati’s single-cylinder road-going Supermotard stands apart with sharp bodywork and a compact, purpose-built silhouette. Ducati lists a 659 cc engine producing 77.5 hp at 9,750 rpm and 63 Nm at 8,000 rpm. Its specification page gives 151 kg curb weight without fuel and a 904 mm seat height for the standard configuration shown. These are Ducati’s figures, not independent measurements; the seat height is especially worth checking in person. Ducati Hypermotard 698 Mono
Rank #2
5. 2025 Suzuki DR-Z4SM
Suzuki calls the DR-Z4SM an all-new supermoto for 2025. Its appeal is a fresh take on the practical, upright single-cylinder formula rather than exotic bodywork. Suzuki describes a redesigned 398 cc engine with electronic fuel injection, ride-by-wire throttle, and Suzuki Intelligent Ride System functions. The cited page covers the 2025 model; confirm which model year is sold and road-registered where you live. Suzuki DR-Z4SM
6. 2026 Kawasaki KLX300SM
The KLX300SM brings a more approachable small-displacement option, with the compact proportions and 17-inch tires that make its supermoto identity clear. Kawasaki’s 2026 U.S. page lists a 292 cc liquid-cooled single, six-speed transmission, and maximum torque of 17.7 lb-ft at 7,000 rpm. Those are manufacturer specifications for that market and model year. Its lower displacement relative to the KTM, Husqvarna, and Ducati examples is a difference in positioning, not proof that one is better for every rider. Kawasaki KLX300SM
Older and competition-focused choices
The remaining four widen the list beyond current street-oriented factory models. Their inclusion is about supermoto character and history, not a claim that each is currently sold new or road-legal in your location. Check the exact year, condition, maintenance needs, parts support, and registration status before considering one as a purchase.
7. KTM 450 SMR
The 450 SMR represents the competition side of supermoto: a purpose-built nameplate for riders interested in a track-focused machine rather than a conventional street purchase. The Utah SBK 2026 rulebook includes the KTM 690 SMC-R, but that does not establish the 450 SMR’s street legality or current consumer availability. Verify specifications and intended use for the exact model year. KTM 450 SMR reference

8. Husqvarna FS 450
The FS 450 is another competition-oriented name on the broader supermoto landscape. Its appeal is the stripped, race-machine look; do not assume a competition model has the equipment or approvals needed for public roads. The Utah SBK 2026 rulebook’s inclusion of the 701 SM does not itself establish the FS 450’s eligibility, configuration, or registration status. Confirm the specific year and local rules. 9. Suzuki DR-Z400SM
The DR-Z400SM is a legacy factory supermoto candidate for shoppers drawn to the older, familiar DR-Z shape. The cited general reference names it as a historical example, while Suzuki’s newer DR-Z4SM page covers a distinct 2025 model. Do not treat the older bike’s availability, specifications, or legal status as interchangeable with the DR-Z4SM; confirm details for the year and market you are considering. 10. Yamaha WR250X
The WR250X broadens the list with a smaller-displacement historical option whose supermoto identity is rooted in its model designation and street-wheel format. The available general reference names it as an additional candidate, but does not establish current production, local inventory, or road-registration status. As with any older bike, judge the specific example and its documentation rather than relying on the name alone. Yamaha WR250X reference
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. How to choose the right kind of supermoto
Start with what the bike must do, then narrow the shortlist by fit and local legality. A rulebook or a manufacturer page can establish that a model exists in a category; neither guarantees that it is an appropriate road bike or available in your market.
- For a current street-focused model: start with the KTM, Husqvarna, Ducati, Suzuki, or Kawasaki examples, then confirm the exact year sold locally and the equipment required for registration.
- For lower displacement: Kawasaki lists 292 cc for the KLX300SM and Suzuki lists 398 cc for the DR-Z4SM. Ducati lists 659 cc for the Hypermotard 698 Mono. Engine size alone does not establish which bike is easiest to ride or best for your use.
- For track or competition use: distinguish a purpose-built or older competition machine from a street-focused factory motorcycle. Check the rulebook for the event and class, and do not assume road equipment is included.
- For fit: compare seat height and weight only where the manufacturer provides comparable figures, and arrange a sit or test ride if possible. The Ducati’s listed 904 mm seat height is a useful fit check, not a universal proxy for how every rider will feel on it.
- For ownership: consult the relevant market’s owner manual for service intervals and confirm parts availability, registration requirements, and the condition of any used example.
What “supermoto” means for this list
The term covers more than one kind of motorcycle: street-oriented factory bikes, competition machines, and older models that may be found used or modified. The Utah SBK 2026 rulebook lists examples including the KLX300SM, DR-Z4SM, KTM 690 SMC-R, Husqvarna 701 SM, GASGAS SM700, and Ducati Hypermotard. That establishes their presence in a competition context, not a global consumer ranking or a guarantee of road registration. A general category reference supplies the broader historical names used above, but buyers still need to verify model-year specifics. Utah SBK rulebook · Supermoto model reference
