There is no single, authoritative ranking of the ten highest-rated all-terrain tires: recent guides combine different test sizes, scoring systems, owner reviews and use-case picks. This shortlist makes those distinctions explicit. Its main ranking follows Tyre Reviews’ 2026 controlled test of seven all-terrain tires in 265/70 R17; the remaining models are included as clearly labeled picks from separate tests or current guides, not as entries in one shared top-ten test.
That distinction matters when choosing tires for a truck or SUV. A model that performs well in one size may not deliver identical results in another, and the best fit depends on your vehicle’s specified size and load requirements as well as your mix of pavement, snow and trails.

How to read these all-terrain tire ratings
The strongest apples-to-apples comparison available here is Tyre Reviews’ 2026 test. It evaluated seven all-terrain tires in 265/70 R17, using a Ford Ranger Raptor and the same tire sets across snow and ice in Northern Europe, wet and dry surfaces in Central Europe, and dirt in Utah. Its overall score weighted dry performance at 30%, wet at 35%, off-road at 12.5%, snow at 10%, comfort at 10% and value at 2.5%. The published results apply to that tested size, not to every size or vehicle.

The other entries below come from different evidence: Car and Driver’s use-case recommendations, a report on Tire Rack’s separate 2025 comparison, and models featured in Discount Tire’s 2026 guide. These are useful buying leads, but they are not directly comparable to the 2026 ranking.

1. Pirelli Scorpion XTM AT — strongest overall in the 2026 comparison
The Pirelli finished first among the seven all-terrain tires in Tyre Reviews’ 2026 test. In 265/70 R17, its measured braking distances were 35.77 m on wet pavement, 40.99 m on dry pavement and 13.42 m on snow. Those results make it the clearest pick for readers prioritizing balanced performance in the specific conditions and size tested; they do not guarantee the same ranking in another size.
2. Nokian Outpost nAT — high category score
Nokian’s Outpost nAT placed second in the 2026 test and holds the highest TR Score on Tyre Reviews’ category page. That category page aggregates 11 professional tests and 906 owner reviews across the category, so its score is a separate measure from the seven-tire 2026 result.
3. BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A KO3 — off-road-oriented recommendation
The KO3 ranked third in the 2026 comparison and is Car and Driver’s pick for off-roading in its guide updated September 2, 2026. Discount Tire’s 2026 guide lists it as carrying a 3PMSF severe-snow designation and a 50,000-mile treadwear warranty. Those are retailer-presented claims; check the manufacturer’s terms for the exact size and conditions before relying on them.

Westlake’s SL369 finished fourth in the 2026 comparison. Tyre Reviews’ category page separately identifies Westlake as its best budget brand. That label is not a price comparison for every market or tire size, so compare current local pricing and specifications before treating it as the lowest-cost choice.
5. Goodyear Wrangler DuraTrac RT — strongest snow braking in the test
The DuraTrac RT placed fifth overall but recorded the group’s best snow braking: 13.08 m in the 2026 test’s 265/70 R17 size. Its wet-grip and noise results were weaker than the test leaders, illustrating why one standout discipline does not establish the best all-around tire.
6. Falken Wildpeak A/T4W — snow-rated option with size-dependent warranty
The A/T4W finished sixth in the 2026 test and appears among the models in Discount Tire’s 2026 guide. Discount Tire lists a 3PMSF rating and a 60,000–65,000-mile treadwear warranty depending on size. Verify the precise warranty coverage and tire specifications with the manufacturer for your fitment.

Nitto’s Recon Grappler AT ranked seventh among the all-terrain tires in the 2026 comparison. The placement reflects that test’s particular size, vehicle and scoring weights; it should not be read as a universal judgment across all fitments or driving conditions.

8. Bridgestone Dueler A/T Ascent — everyday-driving pick
Car and Driver names the Dueler A/T Ascent its best all-terrain tire for everyday driving in its guide updated September 2, 2026. This is an editorial use-case recommendation, not a result from the 2026 Tyre Reviews test.
9. Continental TerrainContact A/T — value pick and separate-test leader
Car and Driver names the TerrainContact A/T its best-value pick. Separately, a report by Tyre Reviews on Tire Rack’s October 2025 comparison says the Continental placed first among nine tires tested across on-road, off-road and rugged all-terrain categories. That comparison used 265/70 R17 tires on a Toyota Tacoma and covered seven disciplines, so its result is not interchangeable with the 2026 Ranger Raptor test.

10. Goodyear Wrangler Workhorse AT2 — runner-up in the 2025 report
The Wrangler Workhorse AT2 placed second in the reported October 2025 Tire Rack test, behind the Continental TerrainContact A/T and ahead of the Mickey Thompson Baja Boss AT. This makes it a candidate to investigate, but the finding belongs to that separate test and its categories, vehicle and tire size.

Wet, dry, snow and off-road performance do not move in lockstep. The Pirelli led the 2026 comparison overall and in wet and dry braking, while the Goodyear DuraTrac RT stopped shortest on snow. The overall score also gives wet performance more weight than any other category, so a buyer who spends much of winter on snow or ice may value the category results differently.

As Car and Driver quotes TJ Campbell, Senior Manager of Tire Information and Testing at Tire Rack, “The strongest performers balance forward bite, steering response, rear-axle stability, and predictable behavior across changing surfaces.” Consider how consistently a tire handles your actual routes, not just an isolated traction or braking result.
How to choose the right tire for your truck or SUV
- Start with the vehicle’s fitment requirements. Check the tire placard on the vehicle and the owner’s manual for the approved size and load requirements. Do not assume a tire that fits another truck or SUV will suit yours.
- Match the tire to your driving mix. For regular highway use, put wet braking, predictable handling and comfort near the top of your list. For frequent snow, examine snow-specific results and verify any severe-snow designation for the exact tire. For trails, look for evidence about off-road traction rather than relying on an all-terrain label alone.
- Compare evidence of the same kind. A controlled test result, an editorial use-case pick, an owner-review score and a retailer’s product listing measure different things. Keep test size, vehicle and test conditions in view when comparing results.
- Confirm the exact product details before purchase. Check size, load specification and warranty terms for the tire you intend to buy. A warranty mileage figure is a stated coverage term, not a measured promise of how long the tire will last.
Other ratings and picks worth knowing
Tyre Reviews’ category page names Lassa Competus AT2 the owners’ favorite at 92% from four reviews. That is a small review sample, not a controlled test result. The page also names Pirelli Scorpion XTM AT its latest test winner, reflecting a different category-level designation from the 2026 seven-tire ranking.
Discount Tire’s 2026 guide also includes Cooper Discoverer ATP II and Toyo Open Country A/T III. Their appearance in that guide is not a comparative test result in the evidence summarized here, so they are additional models to research rather than ranked alternatives in the list above.
