This curated list spans films and television, from a real Triumph used for a celebrated stunt to customized choppers and fictional machines built for the screen. “Famous” is a matter of judgment, not an official ranking—and a bike’s screen identity may differ from its factory model or the vehicle used for a stunt.
Famous motorcycles from movies
The Great Escape: Triumph TR6 Trophy
The motorcycle in the film’s most memorable riding sequence is a Triumph TR6 Trophy. Triumph’s heritage account says Steve McQueen advocated for motorcycle stunt riding and recommended his friend Bud Ekins to the producers. McQueen played the character, but Ekins performed the famous jump. Triumph says the restored bike Ekins used is displayed at its Factory Visitor Experience in Hinckley. British GQ identifies the film bike as a 1961 TR6 Trophy Bird; Triumph’s account describes the first-choice model as a TR6 Trophy. The two accounts make the model family clear, but the rider and stunt performer should not be conflated.
Easy Rider: Captain America Harley-Davidson chopper
Peter Fonda’s Captain America bike is a custom screen chopper, not a factory Harley-Davidson model. British GQ describes it as a build modified from a 1952 Harley-Davidson Hydra-Glide and reports that four bikes were used during filming. Its stars-and-stripes paint and elongated silhouette made the motorcycle a defining image of the film and its counterculture road story.
The Wild One: Triumph Thunderbird
Marlon Brando rides a Triumph Thunderbird in the 1953 film. British GQ identifies it as a 1950 6T Thunderbird and says Brando rode his own motorcycle for the production. Triumph also includes The Wild One in its roundup of movie motorcycles. The bike’s association with Brando’s rebellious character helped make it one of cinema’s enduring motorcycle images.

Terminator 2: Judgment Day: Harley-Davidson Fat Boy
The T-800’s stolen Harley-Davidson Fat Boy becomes part of the film’s pursuit sequence, giving the motorcycle a direct role in the action rather than leaving it as background set dressing. British GQ reports that the bike sold at auction in June 2018 for $482,000. That is a historical sale reported by GQ, not a current estimate of what a Fat Boy or film-used motorcycle is worth.
Top Gun: Kawasaki GPZ 900R Ninja
Maverick’s motorcycle is a Kawasaki GPZ 900R Ninja, identified as such by both British GQ and Brazilian automotive publication Quatro Rodas. Its runway appearances reinforce the character’s fast, self-assured image, even though the motorcycle is a memorable companion rather than the story’s central plot object. This entry concerns the original Top Gun, not motorcycles associated with its later sequel.

- Two wheels don't just carry you forward. They remind you who you are. This Chopper motorcycle model captures that feeling—a tribute to the freedom that lives beyond the road.
- Electroplating painted parts reflect more than light. They reflect the soul of classic bikes. It’s the shine that belongs in every garage and every rider’s memory.
- The low frame and tall handlebars say one thing: this motorcycle has attitude. Every curve and angle was shaped for those who ride to stand apart, not blend in.
- Features a V-type engine with moving pistons. Turn the wheels and see the pistons move. In that motion, the spirit of the motorbike comes to life.
- It’s a gift that speaks without words. For those who hear engines like poetry and see chrome as a badge of belief, this is something worth holding onto.
Ghost Rider: customized Harley-based chopper
The flaming motorcycle in the 2007 film is a customized Harley Panhead chopper, according to British GQ. The design was modeled on the Captain America Harley from Easy Rider, but it is a purpose-built film version, not a stock motorcycle that can be identified simply by a showroom model name. Its burning appearance is integral to the supernatural character’s screen identity.
The Dark Knight: Batpod
Batman’s Batpod is a fictional, purpose-built movie vehicle. Quatro Rodas includes it in its coverage of motorcycles from films, but the available model identification does not establish detailed production specifications or a retail equivalent. Its striking design and role in the film’s action make it memorable on screen; it is best understood as a cinematic machine rather than a production motorcycle.

Famous motorcycles from television
The Walking Dead: modified Triumph Bonneville 650
Quatro Rodas identifies Daryl Dixon’s motorcycle as a heavily modified Triumph Bonneville 650. The word “modified” matters: the bike seen on screen is an adapted build, not an unmodified Bonneville as sold to consumers. Its rugged appearance became closely associated with Daryl’s character and his journeys through the series.
Happy Days: Triumph Trophy TR5
Triumph’s movie-and-television roundup connects Henry Winkler’s Fonzie with a Trophy TR5. The motorcycle is a concise visual expression of the character’s cool persona. Triumph’s published roundup provides the model identification, but less detail about the production bike than its account of The Great Escape.

A James Bond film with Triumph motorcycles
No Time to Die: Triumph motorcycles
Triumph says it was the official motorcycle partner for the 25th James Bond film, No Time to Die. That partnership confirms the marque’s presence in the film, but does not by itself establish which Triumph model appears in every scene. For that reason, the accurate identification here is simply Triumph motorcycles.

A famous motorcycle may refer to several related things: the production model, a customized vehicle made for the screen, or a separate bike used for a stunt. The Great Escape illustrates the distinction between the character played by McQueen and Ekins, who performed the jump. Easy Rider’s Captain America is a custom build based on a Harley-Davidson, while the Batpod is fictional and the Ghost Rider bike is heavily customized. Those differences are part of what makes each screen motorcycle distinctive, and they are why a single showroom model or specification cannot describe every entry accurately.
