The coolest Lexus sports car ever made is the Lexus LFA Nürburgring Package, followed closely by the standard LFA. Together, they combine a naturally aspirated V10, carbon-fiber construction, extensive track development, hand assembly, and production numbers that make even modern supercars seem common.
For a new U.S.-market Lexus, the 2026 LC 500 is the standout: a dramatic front-engine coupe or convertible with a 471-horsepower naturally aspirated V8. The 2025 RC F Final Edition is the more obvious future collectible, while the IS F, GS F, and IS 500 prove that Lexus performance is not limited to two-door cars.

1. Lexus LFA Nürburgring Package
The LFA Nürburgring Package is the most concentrated expression of Lexus’s first-generation performance philosophy. It keeps the LFA’s 4.8-liter naturally aspirated V10 but raises output to 562 horsepower. Lexus also shortened the automated transmission’s gear-shift time to 0.15 seconds and added track-focused aerodynamic and chassis upgrades.
The visual changes are part of the appeal. A fixed rear wing, more aggressive aerodynamic treatment, and a chassis developed with the Nürburgring in mind make the package look and feel like a road-legal track special rather than a cosmetic trim level. Only 50 examples were produced worldwide, compared with 500 standard LFAs.
Why it is so cool
- It has one of the rarest naturally aspirated V10 powertrains in a modern road car.
- Its carbon-fiber construction and Nürburgring development give the car genuine engineering significance.
- The fixed wing and chassis changes communicate the car’s purpose immediately.
- Fifty examples make it substantially rarer than the already limited LFA.
This is a discontinued collector vehicle, not a new-car recommendation. It ranks first because few Lexus models combine sound, scarcity, technical ambition, and visual drama so completely.

It is obviously no substitute for the real car, and a specific manufacturer, scale, price, and stock position should be verified before purchase.
2. Lexus LFA
The standard LFA is Lexus’s definitive halo car and the foundation for the Nürburgring Package. Its naturally aspirated 4.8-liter V10 produces 552 horsepower, while the car uses carbon-fiber-reinforced construction and an unusually labor-intensive, low-volume manufacturing process. Lexus described it as the flagship of the F portfolio.
Only 500 LFAs were produced globally, and production ended on December 14, 2012. That limited run is important, but it is not the only reason the LFA remains special. The engine’s character, its Yamaha-tuned exhaust note, and the amount of track development behind the car gave Lexus supercar credibility in a way that no ordinary F SPORT package could.
The LFA also feels like an engineering statement from an era when a manufacturer could justify developing a high-revving, naturally aspirated V10 for a very small audience. The Nürburgring version is more focused, but the regular LFA is the more complete road car and the model that established the legend.
3. 2026 Lexus LC 500
The 2026 Lexus LC 500 is the coolest current Lexus sports car for most buyers. It is not a stripped-down track machine; it is a front-engine luxury sports coupe designed to combine theater, pace, and long-distance comfort. The U.S. model uses a naturally aspirated 5.0-liter V8 producing 471 horsepower, rear-wheel drive, and a 10-speed automatic transmission.
Lexus estimates 0 to 60 mph in 4.4 seconds. That number is quick, but the LC’s real appeal is broader: an unusually sculpted body, a low and dramatic driving position, a V8 soundtrack, and enough refinement to serve as a grand tourer. It feels special at ordinary speeds rather than requiring a racetrack to provide an experience.
The 2026 LC range includes both coupe and convertible body styles. The limited Inspiration Series further emphasizes the car’s rarity, with 200 coupes and 350 convertibles for North America. Those production figures apply to that special series, not to every LC 500.

Best for
Choose the LC 500 if you want a new Lexus with the strongest combination of design presence, naturally aspirated engine character, luxury, and everyday usability. It is the ranking’s strongest current luxury sport coupe, although pricing, inventory, equipment, and regional availability can change.
4. 2025 Lexus RC F Final Edition
The RC F Final Edition is Lexus’s farewell to the RC and RC F line. Lexus announced that production would end after the 2025 model year, closing more than a decade of RC production and ending a chapter that recorded more than 90,000 combined RC and RC F sales across 62 countries and regions.
Its naturally aspirated 5.0-liter V8 makes 472 horsepower. The Final Edition adds the hardware expected from a send-off model: lightweight 19-inch BBS wheels, Michelin Pilot Sport 4 S tires, F-tuned Adaptive Variable Suspension, and Brembo brakes. Its styling is also more overt than the understated look of the original IS F, with a visual connection to Lexus’s GT3-inspired performance design.
The RC F Final Edition does not outrank the LFA or LC 500 on engineering distinction, but it has a strong future-collectible argument. It is a modern rear-wheel-drive V8 coupe arriving as naturally aspirated performance engines become increasingly unusual. The important distinction for shoppers is that this is a final-year, discontinued model—not a current 2026 showroom choice.
5. Lexus IS F
The IS F was the first production Lexus to wear the F marque. Launched for the 2008 model year, it brought a performance-tuned 5.0-liter naturally aspirated V8 producing 416 horsepower and 371 pound-feet of torque to a compact luxury sedan. Power went through an eight-speed Sport Direct Shift automatic transmission.

The IS F’s development was not simply an engine swap. Lexus highlighted testing and tuning at the Nürburgring, Circuit Paul Ricard, and Fuji Speedway. That track work helped distinguish the IS F from an IS 350 F SPORT with aggressive styling but a less comprehensive performance mission.
Its stacked quad exhaust outlets became the signature visual detail, while the sedan body made the car less conspicuous and more practical than the LFA or RC F. The naturally aspirated V8, rear-wheel-drive layout, and compact proportions gave it a personality different from the turbocharged German sport sedans it challenged.
Why enthusiasts still care
The IS F is the origin story of Lexus’s modern performance cars. It is also one of the clearest examples of the brand taking a luxury sedan, giving it a serious engine and chassis program, and avoiding the generic feel that can result from simply adding horsepower.
6. Lexus GS F
The GS F took the IS F formula and installed it in a larger five-passenger luxury sedan. Introduced for the 2016 model year, it used a naturally aspirated 5.0-liter V8 producing 467 horsepower and an eight-speed automatic transmission.

- Accessories and collections: This product is very suitable for static accessories and can be used as an accessory next to a computer. For those who are passionate about collecting model car models, this is a great art collection.
What makes the GS F interesting is that Lexus substantially re-engineered the chassis beyond the regular GS 350 F SPORT. The result was a car intended to deliver genuine F-car capability while preserving the GS’s space, comfort, and long-distance manners.
The GS F is therefore the best choice in this ranking for someone who wants serious V8 performance but does not want a coupe or a tightly packaged compact sedan. It is more discreet than an RC F and more useful for carrying passengers than an LFA, while still offering the old-school response of a naturally aspirated V8.
Its position below the IS F reflects the GS F’s greater size and less foundational historical role, not a lack of ability. The IS F created the formula; the GS F made that formula more practical.
7. Lexus IS 500 F SPORT Performance
The IS 500 F SPORT Performance revived the naturally aspirated V8 sport-sedan concept for a newer generation. Its North American launch configuration uses a 5.0-liter V8 producing 472 horsepower and 395 pound-feet of torque, with rear-wheel drive, an eight-speed automatic transmission, and quad exhaust outlets.
An AMCI test recorded 0 to 60 mph in 4.4 seconds. The IS 500 is not as historically important as the original IS F, but it is arguably the more surprising modern car: a compact luxury sedan still offered with a large naturally aspirated V8 when many rivals had moved to turbocharging, electrification, or both.
The latest 2025 Lexus IS materials in the research set continued to identify the IS 500 F SPORT Performance as the performance-focused halo of the IS family. Buyers should verify current inventory and model-year availability rather than assume that a 2025 reference means a 2026 vehicle is available.
Best for
The IS 500 is the most appealing choice for someone who wants V8 sound and rear-wheel-drive character in a car that remains usable as a daily sedan. It delivers much of the emotional appeal of the older F cars without requiring a rare collector purchase.
8. First-generation Lexus SC 400
The first-generation SC 400, sold from 1992 through 2001, represents Lexus’s grand-touring side rather than its later F-car identity. Its elegant 1990s coupe shape, smooth V8 character, and association with Lexus’s early design language have made it increasingly interesting to Japanese-car enthusiasts.
The SC 400 was not built around the aggressive, track-oriented brief of the LFA or RC F. Its cool factor comes from proportion and atmosphere: a clean two-door body, a quiet and polished luxury experience, and the sense that Lexus was establishing itself as a serious maker of desirable coupes.
Rank #4
- SCALE: Authentic 1:64 scale die-cast model of the luxurious Lexus LC 500, perfect for collectors and enthusiasts
- DETAILS: Precision-crafted exterior features with stunning red finish and accurate body styling of the iconic sports car
- DESIGN: Part of the Matchbox 2021 collection, featuring meticulous attention to detail and premium quality construction
- COLLECTIBLE: Number 44 out of 125 in the series, making it a valuable addition to any Matchbox or automotive collection
- DISPLAY READY: Compact size perfect for showcasing alongside other die-cast models in your collection
It also supplies useful historical balance to this list. Without cars such as the SC 400, Lexus’s performance identity would be reduced to horsepower figures and F badges. The SC 400 shows the brand’s earlier talent for building sophisticated, understated grand tourers.
What to consider with an older SC 400
Age matters more than the original specification. Condition, service history, body integrity, interior preservation, and the availability of replacement parts should carry more weight than a low asking price. A well-kept example can be a compelling modern classic; a neglected one can quickly turn a stylish coupe into a restoration project.
9. Lexus RC 350 F SPORT
The RC 350 F SPORT is the more accessible performance-coupe end of the RC family. For 2025, Lexus listed it with a 3.5-liter V6 and estimated 0-to-60-mph times of 5.8 seconds for rear-wheel drive and 6.0 seconds for all-wheel drive.
The Tool Desk
Outbyte Driver Updater FREEScan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Outbyte PC Repair FREEClear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →It ranks below the RC F because it does not have the V8 or the same level of chassis intensity, but it has much of the visual drama. The sharply creased coupe body, spindle grille, and F SPORT presentation make it one of the most recognizable Lexus models of its period. All-wheel drive also gives shoppers a different usability proposition from the rear-drive RC F.
The timing is important: Lexus’s U.S. announcement said RC and RC F production would end after the 2025 model year. That makes the RC 350 F SPORT a discontinued model when considering new-car availability, although remaining inventory and used examples may differ by region.
10. 2026 Lexus IS 350 F SPORT
The 2026 IS 350 F SPORT is the accessible current Lexus performance choice in this ranking. It is a compact sport sedan with rear- or all-wheel-drive availability. The model uses a 311-horsepower engine; in rear-wheel-drive form, it pairs that engine with an eight-speed Sport Direct Shift automatic transmission.
Lexus estimates 0 to 60 mph in 5.9 seconds for the rear-wheel-drive version. That is not LFA territory, and the IS 350 F SPORT is not intended to be. Its appeal is the combination of compact dimensions, four-door practicality, F SPORT chassis tuning, and a rear-biased performance intent in a current model.
It earns the final place because it is the easiest car here to understand as an everyday recommendation. The LFA is an event, the LC 500 is a luxury statement, and the older F cars are increasingly collector-oriented. The 2026 IS 350 F SPORT is the rational entry point for someone who wants a new Lexus sedan with a clear performance identity.

Buying a rare or discontinued Lexus
The models at the top of this list should not be evaluated like ordinary used cars. For an LFA, LFA Nürburgring Package, RC F Final Edition, IS F, GS F, or carefully preserved SC 400, provenance and condition can matter more than the badge alone.

- Toy model car:The car is not just a great toy for kids but it can also be part of your car model collection, Get this car model for your kid or as a lovely surprise for his friends.
- Confirm the exact model and model year. An ordinary LFA is not a Nürburgring Package, and an RC F is not automatically a Final Edition.
- Request documentation. Service records, ownership history, original equipment, and proof of authenticity are especially important for limited-production cars.
- Inspect the expensive systems. A pre-purchase inspection should address the engine, transmission, suspension, brakes, carbon-fiber structure where applicable, electronics, and signs of accident repair.
- Budget for storage and specialist care. A rare car may need controlled storage, appropriate tires, battery maintenance, and technicians familiar with the model.
- Separate valuation from asking price. Auction results and online listings can show market activity, but they do not guarantee that a particular car is worth the same amount.
For a rare LFA or another collectible Lexus, a Lexus LFA valuation resource can provide a useful starting point for research. It should not be treated as a guaranteed appraisal, price prediction, or substitute for an inspection. Insurance needs also change when a car becomes a collectible, so specialty coverage should be compared with the vehicle’s actual use and agreed value.
Scarce cars may also appear through collector-car auction marketplaces. A Lexus LFA auction search can help readers study past listings and sale context, but it does not mean a specific LFA is currently available or that every listing has been independently verified.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Why Lexus sports cars feel different
Lexus performance cars have rarely followed only one formula. The LFA pursued extreme engineering and rarity. The LC 500 emphasizes design and grand touring. The F sedans put naturally aspirated V8 power into practical bodies. The SC 400 established a polished Japanese luxury-coupe identity before the F badge existed.
That variety is why a simple horsepower ranking would miss the point. The 2026 IS 350 F SPORT is slower than the V8 cars but more accessible as a current daily driver. The SC 400 is not a track special, yet it matters because it helped define Lexus as a maker of desirable coupes. The RC F Final Edition is compelling partly because its naturally aspirated V8 represents a closing chapter.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the coolest Lexus sports car ever made?
The Lexus LFA Nürburgring Package is the strongest overall choice because it combines a 562-horsepower naturally aspirated V10, carbon-fiber construction, Nürburgring development, track-focused upgrades, and just 50 examples worldwide. The standard LFA is the more broadly representative Lexus halo car, with 500 produced globally.
Which Lexus sports cars are still available new in the United States?
The research set identifies the 2026 LC 500 and 2026 IS 350 F SPORT as current U.S.-market references. The IS 500 appears in 2025 U.S. materials, while RC and RC F production ended after the 2025 model year. Inventory, trim details, and regional availability can change, so buyers should verify directly with Lexus or a dealer.
Is the Lexus LFA still being produced?
No. LFA production ended on December 14, 2012, after a global run of 500 cars. The Nürburgring Package was limited to 50 examples worldwide, making it even rarer.
Which Lexus sports sedan has a V8?
This ranking includes the IS F, GS F, and IS 500 F SPORT Performance. The IS F launched for 2008 with a 416-horsepower 5.0-liter V8; the GS F used a 467-horsepower 5.0-liter V8; and the IS 500 uses a 472-horsepower 5.0-liter V8.
Is the RC F Final Edition a current Lexus model?
No. Lexus announced that RC and RC F production would end after the 2025 model year. The RC F Final Edition is therefore a final-year discontinued model, although used examples or remaining inventory may be available depending on location.
The Bottom Line
The LFA Nürburgring Package and standard LFA are the historical standouts, but the 2026 LC 500 is the best current all-around Lexus sports car. The 2025 RC F Final Edition is the most obvious modern collectible, while the IS F, GS F, and IS 500 show why Lexus’s naturally aspirated V8 sedans remain so distinctive. For an attainable current choice, start with the 2026 IS 350 F SPORT; for 1990s character, look to the first-generation SC 400.
