This is a selection, not an objectively settled ranking: no comparable independent scorecard establishes a definitive “best” across such different cars. The decade here means 2016 through 2025; another ten-year window could produce a different list.
The choices below weigh each model’s role and character, its place in Audi’s lineup, and the limits of the available evidence on safety and ownership. They are not ranked from best to worst. Safety awards apply to specific model years, markets and, sometimes, build dates, so they should not be generalized to every car in a model family.
How to read this list
A compact sedan, three-row SUV, battery-electric car and mid-engine sports car do different jobs. Rather than compare them with a single score, this list selects one representative from each of several Audi model families. It emphasizes range of use and decade-spanning relevance, not a claim that one model is universally superior.
Audi’s official former-model page gives useful endpoint labels: A4 and Q5 through 2024; A6 and A7 through 2025; Q8 e-tron through 2025; TT through 2023; and R8 through 2024. Those dates do not establish that each model was sold in every market or every year of the period. Local naming, generations and specifications also vary. Audi’s page is a model-history reference, not a comparative quality ranking: Audi Model History.

The 10 Audi models worth considering
1. Audi A3: the compact all-rounder
The A3 belongs on a decade-spanning shortlist for shoppers who want Audi’s compact-car format rather than the size and running needs of a larger sedan or SUV. Its place here is about representing that use case; this evidence does not establish a reliability advantage, ownership-cost edge or best model year. Audi includes the A3 among its reported 2025 five-star Euro NCAP results, but a safety rating belongs to the tested model and market configuration, not automatically to every A3 from 2016–2025. Audi’s summary is on its vehicle-safety page.
2. Audi A4: the traditional premium sedan
The A4 is a natural choice for buyers who prefer a conventional sedan to an SUV, and it represents one of Audi’s established passenger-car lines during this period. Audi’s current former-model page lists the A4 through 2024; that endpoint is not proof of availability in every market through that year. The sources here do not supply aligned generation-by-generation specifications, fuel costs or reliability comparisons, so choosing a particular used A4 requires checking its market, model year, engine and service history individually.
3. Audi A5: the style-led alternative
The A5 gives the list a more style-focused passenger-car option alongside the A3 and A4. Its appeal depends on the body style and exact generation available locally, rather than a universal performance or ownership claim. Audi says the model-year 2026 A5 received an IIHS TOP SAFETY PICK+ award; that is a later model-year recognition and should not be treated as a rating for all A5s in the 2016–2025 window. Audi names the award on its safety page.

4. Audi A6: the larger executive sedan
For a buyer seeking a larger sedan than the A4, the A6 represents Audi’s executive-car offering in the decade. Audi’s former-model page labels the A6 through 2025, without establishing identical availability or specification across countries. The case for including it is its distinct size and role in the lineup; the sources do not establish that it is cheaper to maintain, more dependable or safer in every year than the smaller models.

5. Audi Q3: the compact SUV
The Q3 is the compact-SUV choice for drivers who want a higher-riding body style without moving to a larger family SUV. Audi lists the Q3 among its reported 2025 five-star Euro NCAP outcomes. That is Audi’s summary of a specific test result, not a blanket rating for every Q3 generation or market specification in the decade. Consult the underlying year- and market-specific result before using an award to compare used examples; Audi’s account is on its vehicle-safety page.
6. Audi Q5: the central family SUV
The Q5 is the most natural family-SUV representative in this selection: it sits between the compact Q3 and larger Q7 in the lineup. Audi says the Q5 has ranked among the most popular B-segment SUVs in Germany and Europe for more than 15 years, and says its third generation launched in 2024. These are Audi’s characterizations, not an independently verified comparative sales ranking. The company’s wording appears in its Combined Annual and Sustainability Report 2024 and Audi Report 2024.

- 【Lighting and Sound Control】The lighting and sound effects can be controlled through remote control keys to simulate the sound and light effects of real cars. In addition, the front door is linked to the instrument light and the ceiling light. Any opening of the front door on either side can trigger the light. Pressing the steering wheel can also trigger the sound effect of the horn
- 【Multi-functional Realistic Details】The doors, hood and trunk of the toy model car can all be opened. The front-wheel linkage steering wheel can be operated to the left or right, and shock absorbers are installed on all four wheels. The rearview mirrors can be folded and the air cap can be opened. The driver's and passenger's seats can be adjusted forward and backward, the internal armrests can be opened, the trunk compartments can be flipped over, and the spare tire can be removed. The engine hood can be opened and has a built-in charging port. The tail can be raised and lowered
Safety details are especially important when comparing generations. Audi says the model-year 2026 Q5 received IIHS TOP SAFETY PICK+, while IIHS’s 2025 awards page sets build-date conditions for the all-new Q5. Neither result should be generalized to every Q5 in the 2016–2025 period. Check the specific vehicle’s build date and the award’s scope in the IIHS 2025 Audi awards listing; Audi also summarizes its awards on its safety page.
7. Audi Q7: the larger family hauler
The Q7 gives the selection a larger SUV option for shoppers whose needs extend beyond the Q5’s role. Its inclusion reflects body style and family-transport positioning, not a sourced claim about seating configuration, cargo capacity or superiority to competitors; those details depend on year and market and are not established by the sources used here. Compare the precise year and configuration before deciding whether its extra size suits your household.
8. Audi e-tron / Q8 e-tron: Audi’s electric SUV chapter
The original e-tron and later Q8 e-tron name represent Audi’s electric-SUV offering during the decade. The naming transition matters when searching used listings: do not assume that “e-tron” and “Q8 e-tron” identify the same year, specification or market version. Audi’s former-model page lists Q8 e-tron through 2025, but does not establish availability in every market throughout that period. The sources here do not provide comparable range, charging, battery-condition or energy-cost data, so those should be checked for the exact vehicle and local charging conditions.

- Scaled replicas of cars and trucks
- Die cast metal body with plastic details
- Opening doors on all- some with opening hoods and trunks
- Detailed chassis
9. Audi e-tron GT: the electric performance sedan
The e-tron GT earns a place as a different kind of EV from the electric SUV: a performance-oriented, low-slung sedan. It broadens the list beyond practical commuter and family formats, but inclusion is not a claim about range leadership, charging speed, affordability or reliability. Those comparisons require exact model-year and market specifications, which are not established here.
10. Audi R8: the decade’s halo sports car
The R8 is the performance-car pick, representing a very different goal from everyday passenger transport. It is included for its role as Audi’s halo sports car, not as a practical recommendation for most buyers or a value judgment against the other nine. Audi’s former-model page lists the R8 through 2024; the label does not mean it was sold in every market or in every year of the decade.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Safety awards: what they do and do not tell you
Award labels are useful only when their scope matches the car being considered. Audi says all Audi models it reports as tested by Euro NCAP over the preceding ten years received five stars, and lists the A3, Q3, Q4 e-tron, Q5 and A6 e-tron among its 2025 five-star results. This is Audi’s summary; it is not a single rating that applies to every model year, trim or market. Audi also says the A5, Q5, Q5 Sportback, A6 Sportback e-tron, Q6 e-tron and Q6 Sportback e-tron received IIHS TOP SAFETY PICK+ for model year 2026. For model-specific claims, use the applicable award listing and conditions, including IIHS’s 2025 Audi results where relevant. Audi’s broader summaries are on its vehicle-safety page.

Audi says its current safety-development work includes around 20,000 virtual accident simulations per year and more than 800 crash tests for the further development of passive-safety functions. These are Audi-published figures, not independent measures of how a particular used car performs in a crash. They describe the company’s development activity, not a substitute for checking the rating of a specific model year.
How to choose among them
- For a compact car: start with the A3; consider the A4 if you want a conventional sedan in a larger class.
- For a more style-led passenger car: compare the A5 with the A4 based on exact body style, generation and local specification.
- For a larger sedan: the A6 is the relevant step up in this selection.
- For an SUV: use the Q3 for the compact role, Q5 for a middle-size family option, and Q7 when you need a larger vehicle.
- For an electric Audi: distinguish the e-tron/Q8 e-tron SUV from the e-tron GT sedan, then verify year-specific range, charging capability and battery condition.
- For a sports car: the R8 is the enthusiast-oriented choice, with a very different purpose from the practical models above.
Before buying any used example, confirm the model year and generation, the country-market specification, the exact powertrain and equipment, maintenance records, and whether any safety award applies to that vehicle’s build date. The evidence available here does not support a reliability ranking, repair-cost estimate, fuel-economy comparison or ownership-cost score across these ten models. Those questions need model-year-specific records and local-market data rather than a family name alone.
